Abstract Objectives Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a highly prevalent dysfunction in middle-aged and elderly women. One recent technique places a sub-urethral tape passed through the transobturator foramen. Efficacy and quality of life were assessed after five years of treatment with the transobturator technique in women suffering SUI. Objective: In order to evaluate radicality in fertility preserving surgery in women with early invasive cervical cancer we analyzed the parametrium of specimens of patients treated by radical vaginal trachelectomy for the presence of lymph nodes. We tried to identify morphologic factors associated with the presence of parametrial lymph nodes. Methods: We analyzed surgical specimens of 112 patients who underwent radical trachelectomy between June 2004 and April 2009 at the Department of Gynecologic Oncology at Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin and Campus Mitte. Tolerability and efficacy of high-dose furosemide and small-volume hypertonic saline solution in refractory congestive heart failure

Thirty patients aged 65-85 years, with refractory New York Heart Association (NYHA) class IV congestive heart failure (CHF) were treated with an intravenous infusion of furosemide (250-2000 mg/d) and small-volume hypertonic saline solution (150 mL of 1.4-4.6% NaCl) twice a day for 6 to 12 days. A daily fluid oral intake of 1000 mL and previous cardiac therapy were maintained. Clinical signs and symptoms of CHF, such as dyspnea, edema and weakness, improved, as did severity of illness as defined by NYHA class. The infusion was well tolerated. Background. Inability to maintain balance while standing increases risk of falls in older people. The present study assessed whether center of pressure (COP) movement measured with force platform technology predicts risk for falls among older people with no manifest deficiency in standing balance. This paper presents a critical review of the most established analytical models for the prediction of the compressive strength of FRP and FRCM-confined masonry columns. Darbā tika analizētas apaļā jūrasgrunduļa bioloģisko parametru izmaiņas Latvijas piekrastē, balstoties uz komerciālās un rūpnieciskās zvejas datu analīzi laika posmā no 2014. – 2018. gadam. Baltijas jūras atklātajā daļā dzīvojošie apaļie jūrasgrunduļi sasniedz lielāku ķermeņa izmēru, nekā Rīgas jūras līcī dzīvojošie īpatņi, izaugot aptuveni par 2 cm garāki. Taču pēdējo gadu laikā abos reģionos ir samazinājies īpatņu vidējais garums, ka arī mazāko īpatņu masa. Papildus analizējot vecumstruktūru un dzimumstruktūru izmaiņas Baltijas jūras atklātajā daļā novērojams tēviņu īpatsvara pieaugums, kā arī populācijas novecošanās, vidējam vecumam sasniedzot 3,6 gadus.
