Positive solutions for parametric singular Dirichlet(p,q)-equations

Abstract We consider a nonlinear elliptic Dirichlet problem driven by the ( p , q ) -Laplacian and a reaction consisting of a parametric singular term plus a Caratheodory perturbation f ( z , x ) which is ( p − 1 ) -linear as x → + ∞ . First we prove a bifurcation-type theorem describing in an exact way the changes in the set of positive solutions as the parameter λ > 0 moves. Subsequently, we focus on the solution multifunction and prove its continuity properties. Finally we prove the existence of a smallest (minimal) solution u λ ∗ and investigate the monotonicity and continuity properties of the map λ → u λ ∗ .
Multiple solutions for parametric double phase Dirichlet problems

We consider a parametric double phase Dirichlet problem. Using variational tools together with suitable truncation and comparison techniques, we show that for all parametric values [Formula: see text] the problem has at least three nontrivial solutions, two of which have constant sign. Also, we identify the critical parameter [Formula: see text] precisely in terms of the spectrum of the [Formula: see text]-Laplacian.
Spectral invariance, ellipticity, and the Fredholm property for pseudodifferential operators on weighted Sobolev spaces

The pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the Grushin classes \~S inf0 supρ,δ , 0 ≤ δ < ρ ≤ 1, of slowly varying symbols are shown to form spectrally invariant unital Frecher-*-algebras (Ψ*-algebras) in L(L 2(R n )) and in L(H γ st ) for weighted Sobolev spaces H infγ sup defined via a weight d function γ. In all cases, the Fredholm property of an operator can be characterized by uniform ellipticity of the symbol. This gives a converse to theorems of Grushin and Kumano-Ta-Taniguchi. Both, the spectrum and the Fredholm spectrum of an operator turn out to be independent of the choices of s, t and γ. Enhanced supercontinuum generation in tapered tellurite suspended core fiber

Abstract We demonstrate 400-THz (0.6–3.3 µm) bandwidth infrared supercontinuum generation in a 10 cm-long tapered tellurite suspended core fiber pumped by nJ-level 200-fs pulses from an optical parametric oscillator. The increased nonlinearity and dispersion engineering extended by the moderate reduction of the fiber core size are exploited for supercontinuum optimization on both frequency edges (i.e., 155-THz overall gain), while keeping efficient power coupling into the untapered fiber input. Periodic and quasi-periodic orbits of the dissipative standard map

We present analytical and numerical investigations of the dynamics of the dissipative standard map. We first study the existence of periodic orbits by using a constructive version of the implicit function theorem; then, we introduce a parametric representation, which provides the interval of the drift parameter ensuring the existence of a periodic orbit with a given period. The determination of quasi--periodic attractors is efficiently obtained using the parametric representation combined with a Newton's procedure, aimed to reduce the error of the approximate solution provided by the parametric representation. Bounded weak solutions to superlinear Dirichlet double phase problems

AbstractIn this paper we study a Dirichlet double phase problem with a parametric superlinear right-hand side that has subcritical growth. Under very general assumptions on the data, we prove the existence of at least two nontrivial bounded weak solutions to such problem by using variational methods and critical point theory. In contrast to other works we do not need to suppose the Ambrosetti–Rabinowitz condition.

A parametric study, regarding the influence of the quadratic pressure term, which is often neglected in the literature, on the stochastic alongwind response of a single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) structure subjected to wind action, is presented. Objective. Antimicrobial mouthrinses may represent a valid alternative to topical antifungal agents. However, the action of antimicrobials could be affected by the different ingredients incorporated into mouthrinse products. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the in vitro antifungal and fungicidal activities of antimicrobials alone. Study Design. A broth macrodilution method was used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of 4 antimicrobial agents against Candida species. Minimum fungicidal concentration was also determined.
