Animation in public transports: can it facilitate information accessibility for elderly people?

2013

Cognitive functions could be affected by aging: speed processing, inhibition abilities, working memory, visuo-spatial abilities. Nevertheless, these functions could also be involved in comprehension of graphic information. In this paper we examined whether in public transports, animated graphic information instead of spoken information, could facilitate the comprehension of disruption messages. Such alternative, could improve public transport accessibility for elderly people by compensating cognitive decline due to aging. Fifty-two participants, two groups of young and older people, were asked to understand and compare series of train traffic disruption messages delivered via three differen…

2010

Although the rat has become the favourite animal model in preclinical researches on locomotion, studies designed to assess the strategy used by rats to avoid obstacle avoidance are lacking in rats. Using an optoelectronic 3D motion analysis system, we have, therefore, compared the step pattern, timing and length variables of locomotor cycles, trajectories and joint angles values of limbs when rats stepped between and overcame obstacles (3 cm-height) fixed on a treadmill belt (25 cm/s). Motion of all the four limbs was serially recorded for a 10 weeks long-period in adult animals with an initial age of 11 weeks. The results show that obstacle avoidance results in disruption of the basic step…

‘Without form, how can there be beauty?' (A Passage to India) : dernières inversions de l'écriture devant la forme impossible du décor chez E. M. For…

2008

The posthumous condition of gossip: Death and its reputational benediction

2017

Gossiping is ubiquitous in social life. In every imaginable corner of society, people from all walks of life are gossiping their living acquaintances. But what happens when the “third party,” i.e., the subject of gossip, is absent par excellence, not only temporarily and spatially, but definitively? Do people continue to gossip their dead acquaintances? What is the fate of gossip after its target dies? These are the questions this paper sets out to address. In doing so, it develops a non-reductionist sequential model of death as a social process in which biological death is only the starting point of the bio-social phenomenon of dying. Building on some classic anthropological theories and c…

La gestión en educación física. Dos modelos de gestión, el mismo individuo

2020

In the development of this writing, we intend to critically analyze the idea of management in Physical Education and problematize it with the issues of inclusion and inequality. To do this, first there is a brief etymological review of the concept of management, and then we analyze how Physical Education links management to economic and business Sciences. The analysis material used are books, manuals and articles on Physical Education management. From the analysis of this material, the second point of the work arises to explain two management models in Physical Education that we call: individual management and self-management. These models are presented as different and opposite, but in the…

Formaciones sociales y opresión en Marx

2018

The text explains the difference between Marx?s concept of «oppression» and others as «coercion» by Durkheim or «domination» by Weber. The article then establishes, in a methodical way, the centrality of a passage from Capital, in which three different theories on «oppression» appear. It?s explained that two of them are rather a philosophical antinomy. The other, relative to the heteronomy of social time, can be completed by defining the heteronomy of social space, which gives it analytical virtuality. Some examples are given.
