A Research Project about Communism in Romanian Countryside: Ploughmen’s Front Propaganda (1944-1953)
2013
The Ploughmen Front represented the strongest and the oldest “comrade” of the Communist Party from Romania, with a major role in the countryside communization. In general, the studies dedicated to Romania communization focused on institutionalization of the regime, liquidation of democratic order, repression, anticommunist resistance and less on the transformations undergone by the Romanian countryside. The only important issue was the agriculture collectivization. Our project takes into consideration a new approach, which is the research of the way communism became popular in the rural areas, which meant 80% of the Romanian population, how the popularity of the historical parties was dislo…
La maschia potenza. Pratiche ergologiche e coreutica rituale nella civiltà contadina
2020

With the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP) in 2018, the right to food sovereignty was officially included in an international legal document for the first time. In order to clarify this relationship the article compares them with food sovereignty as described in the UND…
Los Tellos de Meneses by Lope de Vega in the Shaping of the Ideal of the Honourable Peasant
2011
2020
Several sicilian religious celebrations are characterized by a particular mode of processional transport of the fercoli with the statues of the Saints. These are made to run and dance by devoted young men, often competing with each other, both on the streets of the inhabited centers and, in rare cases, inside the religious buildings. This mode of transport is called, especially in the countries of the western Agrigento’s area, “rigattiata”. Many evidences, first of all the agonal climate, suggest that the same performative logic presides over the ritual execution of the “rigattiati” and the ergological action of the work in the fields. The competitive and conflicting climate between two or …
