Electrosynthesis and properties of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) films functionalized with titanocene dichloride complex
2006
Synthesis of a titanocene dichloride derivative functionalized with 3,4-etylenedioxythiophene group, Tc1EDOT (Cl 2TiCpC5H4(CH2) (3,4ethylenedioxythiophene)) has been described. Redox behavior of the monomer in tetrahydrofuran (THF), dichloromethane (DCM) and acetonitrile (AN) at different scan rates has been discussed in terms of different ability of these solvents to coordination with the reduced titanocene (Tc) complex and the solvation of Cl − anions. Electrooxidation of Tc1EDOT to get a conducting polymer film with immobilized titanocene dichloride centers and electrochemical properties of its polymer matrix in background acetonitrile solution have been compared with those of non-substi…
Preparation and conductivity of PEDOT encapsulated inside faujasites
2005
Poly[3,4-(ethylenedioxy)thiophene] (PEDOT) encapsulated inside the faujasite micropores has been prepared by polymerization of the monomer in partially Fe-exchanged faujasites. Faujasites containing PEDOT within the interior exhibit notable electrical conductivity compared to plain faujasite. This conductivity is attributed to the presence of polarons that have been detected by EPR spectroscopy.
Flexible light-emitting electrochemical cells with single-walled carbon nanotube anodes
2016
Abstract In this work, we demonstrate flexible solution processed light emitting electrochemical cells (LECs) which use single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) films as the substrate. The SWCNTs were synthesized by an integrated aerosol method and dry-transferred on the plastic substrates at room temperature. The addition of a screen printed poly (3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) doped with poly (styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) film onto the nanostructured electrode further homogenizes the surface and enlarges the work function, enhancing the hole injection into the active layer. By using an efficient phosphorescent ionic transition metal complex (iTMC) as the active material, efficacies up to 9…

Fabrication of an extremely cheap poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) modified pencil lead electrode for effective hydroquinone sensing
2021
Hydroquinone (HQ) is one of the major deleterious metabolites of benzene in the human body, which has been implicated to cause various human diseases. In order to fabricate a feasible sensor for the accurate detection of HQ, we attempted to electrochemically modify a piece of common 2B pencil lead (PL) with the conductive poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) or PEDOT film to construct a PEDOT/PL electrode. We then examined the performance of PEDOT/PL in the detection of hydroquinone with different voltammetry methods. Our results have demonstrated that PEDOT film was able to dramatically enhance the electrochemical response of pencil lead electrode to hydroquinone and exhibited a good linear co…
Pyranylidene indene-1,3-dione derivatives as an amorphous red electroluminescence material
2011
The organic light-emitting diode (OLED) has promising applications in flat-panel displays and novel light sources. Thus far, OLED structures have mostly been made by thermal evaporation in vacuum. An alternative approach is to use small molecules that form amorphous (glassy) structures from solutions. Such compounds can be used in ink-jet printing technologies and result in reduced OLED prices. We present an original red fluorescent organic compo- und 2-(2-(4-(bis(2-(trityloxy)ethyl)amino)styryl)-6-methyl-4H-pyran-4-ylidene)-1H-indene-1, 3(2H)-dione (ZWK1), and its derivative 2-(2,6-bis(4-(bis(2-(trityloxy)ethyl) amino)styryl)-4H- pyran-4-ylidene)-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione (ZWK2), where the m…
Growth kinetics of colloidal Ge nanocrystals for light harvesters
2016
Colloidal Ge nanocrystals (NCs) are gaining increased interest because of their potential application in low-cost optoelectronic and light harvesting devices. However, reliable control of colloidal NC synthesis is often an issue and a deeper understanding of the key-role parameters governing NC growth is highly required. Here we report an extended investigation on the growth of colloidal Ge NCs synthesized from a one-pot solution based approach. A systematic study of the effects of synthesis time, temperature and precursor concentration is elucidated in detail. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals the presence of crystalline Ge NCs with a mean size (from 5 to 35 nm) decreasing with the …
Poly(3,4-Ethylenedioxythiophene) nanoparticles as building blocks for hybrid thermoelectric flexible films
2019
Hybrid thermoelectric flexible films based on poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes were prepared by using layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly. The employed PEDOT nanoparticles were synthesized by oxidative miniemulsion polymerization by using iron(III) p-toluenesulfonate hexahydrate (FeTos) as an oxidant and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMAC) as stabilizer. Sodium deoxycholate (DOC) was used as a stabilizer to prepare the aqueous dispersions of the carbon nanotubes. Hybrid thermoelectric films were finally prepared with different monomer/oxidant molar ratios and different types of carbon nanotubes, aiming to maximize the power factor (PF). The …
Current-Driven Organic Electrochemical Transistors for Monitoring Cell Layer Integrity with Enhanced Sensitivity
2021
In this progress report an overview is given on the use of the organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) as a biosensor for impedance sensing of cell layers. The transient OECT current can be used to detect changes in the impedance of the cell layer, as shown by Jimison et al. To circumvent the application of a high gate bias and preventing electrolysis of the electrolyte, in case of small impedance variations, an alternative measuring technique based on an OECT in a current-driven configuration is developed. The ion-sensitivity is larger than 1200 mV V-1 dec-1 at low operating voltage. It can be even further enhanced using an OECT based complementary amplifier, which consists of a p-type a…
Tenfold increase in efficiency from a reference blue OLED
2018
Abstract Starting from a reference single-layer light-emitting diode based on the blue phosphorescent bis-cyclometallated iridium complex FIrpic as guest, hosted in a PVK (non-conjugated poly(vynilcarbazole)) matrix, different strategies are followed to improve the efficiency of the devices through the combination of solution processed and evaporated layers. Injection of charges from the electrodes has been varied by using different conductive PEDOT: PSS as hole injection layer and a nanoscale Cs2CO3 interlayer as electron injection and hole-blocking film. Furthermore, a separated electron injection/hole blocking evaporated layer, TPBi or 3TPYMB, is introduced in double-layer devices to enh…
