Tristriazolotriazines (TTTs) with a threefold alkoxyphenyl substitution were prepared and studied by DSC, polarized optical microscopy (POM) and X-ray scattering. Six pentyloxy chains are sufficient to induce liquid-crystalline behavior in these star-shaped compounds. Thermotropic properties of TTTs with varying substitution patterns and a periphery of linear chains of different lengths, branching in the chain and swallow-tails, are compared. Generally, these disks display broad and stable thermotropic mesophases, with the tangential TTT being superior to the radial isomer. The structure–property relationships of the number of alkyl chains, their position, length and structure were studied.

In this work new hydrogels based on biocompatible polymers such as inulin (INU) and O,O'-bis(2-aminoethyl)polyethyleneglycol (PEGBa) have been prepared and charaterized. In particular, INU has been derivatized with divinyl sulfone (DV) thus obtaining the INUDV derivative, a copolymer bearing double bonds highly reactive towards the conjugate addition by nucleophilic molecules. INUDV has been characterized by FT-IR, 1 H-NMR and SEC analyses that have confirmed the success of the derivatization reaction. Molecular topology has been applied to find new lead antibacterial compounds. Among the selected compounds, hesperidin, neohesperidin and Mordant Brown 24 stand out, with minimum inhibitory concentrations 90, MIC90<0.3 mg / mL.

The facile synthesis and detailed investigation of a class of highly potent protease inhibitors based on 1,4-naphthoquinones with a dipeptidic recognition motif (HN-l-Phe-l-Leu-OR) in the 2-position and an electron-withdrawing group (EWG) in the 3-position is presented. One of the compound representatives, namely the acid with EWG = CN and with R = H proved to be a highly potent rhodesain inhibitor with nanomolar affinity. Abstract The positron-emitting radionuclide 44 Sc with a half-life of 3.97 h and a β + branching of 94.3% is of potential interest for clinical PET. As so far it is available from a 44 Ti/ 44 Sc generator in Mainz, where long-lived 44 Ti decays to no-carrier-added (nca) 44 Sc. The 44 Sc is a trivalent metal cation and should be suitable for complexation with many well established bifunctional chelators conjugated to peptides or other molecular targeting vectors.
