The pH of tree bark is affected by many factors, amongst them epiphytic bryophytes changing in their active state environment. Thus, we hypothesized that bryophytes can change bark acidity, dependently of the inclination of the branches, as inclination affect the water regime and particle deposition. We measured the pH under bryophyte cushions and compared it to nearby naked bark. Additionally, we compared results with experimental bark covering with neutral cover. We found that the pH of naked bark declines with decreasing inclination of trunks. Adipose tissue is an endocrine organ that interferes with the severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Although inflammatory markers, body composition, and nutritional status have a significant impact on pulmonary function, the real contribution of adipocytokines and myokines in COPD is still controversial. We aimed to evaluate the role played by the body composition, leptin, adiponectin, haptoglobin, and irisin on the functional exercise capacity, respiratory function, and quality of life (QoL) in COPD. Placées au milieu du binôme, ces prépositions sont forcées par leur sémantisme originaire dûment métaphorisé de jouer le rôle de marqueurs d’inconséquence systématique entre l’élément se trouvant à leur gauche et celui qui se trouve à leur droite. This study is a continuation of earlier research aimed at determining the changes in the quality of precipitation beneath the canopy in pine stands affected by the emission of alkaline pollutants. This study was conducted in the Gorazdze Forest District, in a forest complex in south-western Poland affected by the cement and limestone industry. The rainwater measurements under the canopy of Scots pine were made according to the methodology of the environmental monitoring. In 1937, Pablo Picasso was chosen by the Republican Gov-ernment to be the artistic representative in the Spanish pavilion at the International Exhibition in Paris. The subject of the work was to be a denunciation of the Spanish Civil War. Picasso took his inspiration from the Guernica Tragedy, and the result was what is undoubtedly one of the most universally renowned paintings of the 20th century. As the artist never offered an interpretation of the painting, historians have since made an enormous variety of hypotheses. One of them suggests that the female figure carrying an oil lamp is the personification of the Republic.

A theoretical approach to the notion of significate and to existing models for the analysis of prepositions argues for a polysemous reading of auf as preposition or particle. Our study demonstrates the inadequacy of both the localist model and the theory of preposition bleaching, arguing that both the spatial interpretation and the bleaching phenomenon can be accounted for by the syntactic function and the semantic environment of the preposition-particle.
