Aldo Visalberghi and the italian School System in the Post-War Period
2021
The contribution aims to propose a reflection on the italian pedagogist and academic Aldo Visalberghi (1919-2007) who, influenced by the pedagogical theories of John Dewey (1859-1952), has critically analyzed the italian school of the immediate post-war period, which he himself called extremely authoritarian and, for this reason, demanding to live a change that transformed and improved the quality of teaching and learning of young italians. Through a critical reading of some bibliographical sources such as Scuola aperta published in 1960 and Insegnare ed apprendere. Un approccio evolutivo of 1988, it will be highlighted how Visalberghi offered to educators and teachers of his time suggestio…

Note psicocriminologiche. La mafia tra antropologia criminale e psichiatria
2022

Eraldo Affinati negli anni '90
2017
The article reads the short stories and novels by the Italian writer Eraldo Affinati in the 1990s, with special regard to a twofold aspect: the cultural appropriation of a post-war traumatic experience by an author born in 1956, which lead to the strive to re-invent one's own past in an eventless present. Affinati's ethical approach to fiction is deeply questioned in the last part of the essay
Giuseppe e i suoi fratelli: la ritraduzione come forma di competizione
2023
The article reconstructs the history of the Italian retranslation of Thomas Mann’s "Joseph und seine Brüder". Although Mondadori already published the work (four volumes from 1933 to 1948), shortly after the death of the first translator, the retranslation of the entire tetralogy was commissioned. Based on the letters between the publisher, the author and the new translator, the paper tries to shed light on an unusual case of retranslation, where the rules that generally determine its necessity do not seem to be applicable.
“Memorycide” and gender violence in a Society of Eastern Europe
2016
This research proposes to explore the nexus between “denied memory” or “wounded memory” and gender violence normalized in a symbolic level of production of meaning. For this respect, the following points will be analyzed: a) the perception of violence in intimate relationships of second generations post-conflict ; b) the impact of the “memory of war” on “cultural perception of violence” among generations of younger, adults and elder and between women and men of same generation. The central thesis of this essay is that in a post-war Serbian society, the memory is collectively “denied” because of Serbs’ stigmatization, and an increase of violent behavior and a greater incorporation of symboli…
Children born of War and Social Trust - Analyzing Consequences of Rejection
2017
AbstractThis article examines the question whether rejection experiences negatively relate to the social trust of Children Born of War (CBOW) and if this connection is mediated by sense of self-worth. CBOW is a group of people born out of relations during war- and post-war times, involving one parent being a foreign soldier, a para-military officer, rebel or other person directly participating in the hostilities, while the other parent is a member of the native population. Also children born to child soldiers and children fathered by members of a peacekeeping troop are included within this group. These children, due to their biological background, often grow up in a surrounding in which the…
The Peace Treaty of Fredrikshamn and its Aftermath in Sweden and Finland
2010
This article analyses the Peace Treaty of Fredrikshamn (Hamina in Finnish) and its consequences in Sweden and Finland. The Russians set strict preconditions for the commencement of peace negotiations with the Swedes in the summer of 1809. These conditions were realized almost in toto in the final peace treaty, which consisted of just twenty-one articles. In addition to regulations directly related to the ending of hostilities, the main provisions of the agreement entailed huge territorial losses for Sweden, strictly defining the regions it was to cede to Russia, the most important of which was Finland. Sweden was also enjoined to give up its alliance with Britain and to…
