Post-mortem Foetal Imaging

2019

The gold standard for the diagnosis of foetal death is known to be the autopsy examination, which is sometimes supplemented by chromosomal and/or genetic studies. Nevertheless, autopsy rates are continuously declining, due to multifactorial and complex reasons, even anatomical, social and psychological ones, thus impacting the rate of radiological post-mortem foetal examinations.

Incidence and factors associated with flare-ups in a post graduate programme in the indian population

2014

Objectives: The study had twin objectives: to assess the incidence of flare-ups (a severe problem requiring an unscheduled visit and treatment) among patients who received endodontic treatment in the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics in Vyas Dental college and hospital, Jodhpur during a period of one year, and also to examine the correlation with pre-operative and operative variables. Material and Methods: Data was collected from 1023 teeth from 916 patients who had received endodontic treatment over a 12- month period. Information was obtained for each patient treated, including pulp and peri-radicular diagnosis for the tooth, presence of pre-operatory pain, type of medi…

Evaluation of automated hematologic VCS parameters in severe sepsis and septic shock: a case-control study.

2010

A cheap and quick hematologic diagnostic parameter for detection of sepsis would have both economic and therapeutic benefits. The Coulter LH series hematology analyzer uses the VCS technology (Volume, Conductivity, Laser Scatter) providing information about cell volume, size, internal structure, and surface morphology. Many authors analyzed the clinical usefulness of VCS parameters in reactive neutrophils for detection of sepsis. An increase in mean cell volume and a decrease in mean light scatter in septic patients have been described. Our aim is to verify the correlation between VCS parameters and sepsis.

Comparison of postoperative pain after root canal treatment using reciprocating instruments based on operator’s experience: A prospective clinical st…

2017

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to compare clinically the incidence of postoperative pain after endodontic treatment using the Reciproc System, taking into account the operator's experience. MATERIAL AND METHODS One hundred patients scheduled for routine endodontic treatment were enrolled in this study. Endodontic treatment was carried out in a single visit by undergraduate and postgraduate students. The chemomechanical preparation of root canals was performed with Reciproc instruments. Pretreatment and postoperative pain was recorded using a visual analogue scale (VAS). Postoperative pain and the need for analgesic consumption were assessed at 4, 8, 16, 24, 48 and 72 hours post…

Urinary diversion and reconstruction.

2000

Orthotopic bladder augmentation and substitution has been established as the standard procedure for urinary diversion in many institutions, with current studies reporting mainly on continence rates and procedure-associated complications, such as the risk of impairment of neobladder function by local tumor recurrences in the small pelvis. Similarly, in other types of continent diversion, such as continent cutaneous diversion and rectal reservoirs, current interest is primarily directed towards minimization of surgery-associated complications.

Appendiceal continence mechanisms in continent urinary diversion.

1996

The creation of a safe, reliable, and easy-to-perform continence mechanism remains one of the most important problems during continent urinary diversion. The advent of the use of the appendix as an efferent segment brought through the umbilicus has greatly facilitated surgical procedures with very favorable results. Our experience with the insitu appendix as an efferent segment during continent cutaneous urinary diversion using the Mainz-pouch I technique over the past 6 years revealed a markedly decreased complication rate of 3.2% as compared with 7.2% in patients who received an ileocecal intussusception nipple. The routine use of the appendix as a continence mechanism during continent ur…

Acute neuromuscular and hormonal responses during contrast loading: Effect of 11 weeks of contrast training

2009

The purpose of this study was to assess (1) acute neuromuscular and endocrine responses during a contrast loading protocol and (2) how these acute responses are possibly influenced by 11 weeks of contrast training. Contrast loading tests consisting of 4 sets of 80% 1 RM back squat and 4 sets of squat jump (SJ) were performed before and after training. Bilateral isometric leg extension (LE) assessed the impact of loading on isometric variables pre-, mid-, and post-loading. Potentiated SJ performance was observed in set 2 (4.6%, P<0.05), before training only. Greater indications of fatigue were observed in SJ, isometric force, and vastus lateralis (VL) activation after training (P<0.05). Trai…

POST-OPERATIVE CHANGES IN FACTOR XIII and FIBRCNETITN

1987

Wound healing processes after surgery are not restricted to certain areas tut affect the vhole body; the ooagulaticn systan in particular is involved. We studied Factor XIII and fibrcnectin in the blood plasma of 16 patients before surgery, after surgery and cn the 1st, 3rd and 7th days after surgery; fibrcnectin was determined using IC-Partigen iimunodiffusicn and Factor XIII by Behringwerke rapid test. In 11 patients normal wound healing was observed (group A), while in 5 patients explications oocured (group B). Factor XIII: normal group (A): fall in concentration oenpared with the precpera-tive value up to the 7th day after surgery; group with explications (B): fall in concentration more…
