In the twentieth-century Italy, as many other densely populated European countries, has been characterized by a progressive reduction of the forest cover, specially in the southern Mediterranean regions. Abstract: Tropical forests are being destroyed to make space for agricultural activities with the assumption that they are required to feed the growing global population. Consequently, more sustainable practices are needed to guarantee food security and environmental protection of highly threatened natural biodiversity hotspots like the Amazon rainforest. The extension of remote control on the practices of everyday life in the domestic space emphasized by the daily Covid 19 pandemic constitutes a useful advertising reference and an accelerator for the planetary oligopolists of urban data such as Alphabet. The fusion of the new emblems of techno-emancipation and sustainability in experimental hypotheses that can be built both in whole or in parts draws a new horizon in which the domestic space generates a technological profit and the inhabitants are transformed into producers. From a historical perspective our reality eclipses the idea of technology as an anonymous contribution to collective progress demonstrated by Giedion in Mechanization takes command and subverts the allegorical value assigned by the Architecture of the Seventies to the relational utopias of the Web Stem and Cluster.

Settore ICAR/14 - Composizione Architettonica E UrbanaThe essay questions the future's possibilities to operate on the buildings of the second half of the twentieth century according to the Italian Code of Cultural Heritage (2004-2011). When arguing how to encourage the re-use of these artifacts which are often marked by short-life technology cycles obsolescence and abandonment the ambiguities and inconsistencies of current legislative procedures deeply stress the cultural role of research experiences that use project-oriented methodologies. The comparison between some Italian and other European cases highlights the role of a design approach in the construction of a transformative protection perspective for the built matter of the second half of the twentieth century. In a framework aiming to encourage a reconciliation between the recent built environment and the new paradigms of sustainability and circular economy architecture must recognize re-cycle practices as a main theoretical and procedural node. To modernize the late Modern built environment with contemporary construction components is not simply a matter of technical knowledge and expertise: but a theme with theoretical density aesthetic and ethical values. The architectural project in this field today must ask for greater congruence between the bureaucratic and administrative levels and the real consistency of this corpus. It is a matter of identifying strategies to equip it with capabilities meanings and contents remembering that demolition wastes have unsustainable environmental costs and uncertain results concerning the necessary new attribution of political and semantic meaning that these places await.

Settore ICAR/21 - UrbanisticaIn a framework in which the crisis is globalized but unequal and in the absence of a welfare system capable of responding to the urgencies of the most marginalized contexts and social groups a response to the new social and individual needs has been offered by networks of solidarity and from bottom-up mobilization practices that play a role of territorial agency often independently or in the absence of institutions. In the Palermo context a commitment made by a plurality of cultural subjects already active in the area gathered in a public assembly (Palermo si cura) during the period of the first lockdown gave rise to mutual aid actions to respond to the economic emergency and social and offer a proposal to cure the fragility of the city based not on charity but on the claim of a political dimension of collective action. Starting from the analysis of initiatives such as "Un sorriso per Ballarò" and "Abbiamo un (bi)sogno" the contribution analyzes the role the incidence and the fragility of these experiences in providing answers - often filling gaps - to a general interest and how these processes of value creation can hopefully contribute to the construction of local government policies capable of addressing emerging issues.

Il riferimento primario è all’ampio e polifonico movimento culturale bio-regionale sviluppatosi in particolare negli Stati Uniti tra la fine degli anni sessanta e l’inizio degli anni settanta del XX secolo.

Dalla nascita della museologia moderna il museo è mutato progressivamente, seguendo le esigenze dei tempi con cui si è confrontato. E se l'arte storicamente prefigura mondi, ciò che avvenne a ridosso degli anni Sessanta con la progressiva fuoriscita dell'arte nello spazio pubblico, anticipa la crescente vocazione partecipativa e inclusiva che pare caratterizzare la tensione trasformativa del museo d'oggi. Un luogo che da spazio conservativo ed espositivo si va trasformando - in alcune significative esperienze - in uno spazio critico, luogo della creazione e dell'innovazione civica.
