Reaction pathways for atomic layer deposition with lithium hexamethyl disilazide, trimethyl phosphate, and oxygen plasma

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) of lithium-containing films is of interest for the development of next-generation energy storage devices. Lithium hexamethyl disilazide (LiHMDS) is an established precursor to grow these types of films. The LiHMDS molecule can either be used as a single-source precursor molecule for lithium or as a dual-source precursor molecule for lithium and silicon. Single-source behavior of LiHMDS is observed in the deposition process with trimethylphosphate (TMP) resulting in the deposition of crystalline lithium phosphate (Li3PO4). Binary spinel-type metal oxides (AB2O4) related materials, including ferrites (AFe2O4), are attractive photocatalysts thanks to their excellent visible light response for the photodegradation of organic pollutants. Tunable morphologies of ZnO films via the solution precursor plasma spray process for improved photocatalytic degradation performance

Abstract The Solution Precursor Plasma Spray (SPPS) process is a novel, versatile and one-step route for building photocatalytic films. Herein, the influence of the precursor solution composition on the microstructure and on the properties of ZnO films prepared via the SPPS process was studied. Nanostructured ZnO particles (i.e. nanorods (NRs) and nanowires (NWs)) were obtained by using a solution of pure Zn(OAc)2 rather than pure Zn(NO3)2. Upon adding urea to the Zn(NO3)2 solution, NRs structured ZnO films were formed as well. Thermal and plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition of SiO2 using commercial silicon precursors

In this paper, we report ALD deposition of silicon dioxide using either thermal or plasma enhanced atomic layer deposition (PEALD). Several aminosilanes with differing structures and reactivity were used as silicon precursors in R&D single wafer ALD tools. One of the precursors was also tested on pilot scale batch ALD using O3 as oxidant and with substrates measuring 150 × 400 mm. The SiO2 film deposition rate was greatly dependent on the precursors used, highest values being 1.5-2.0 Å/cycle at 30-200°C for one precursor with an O2 plasma. Pulsed Direct liquid Injection ALD of TiO2 Films Using Titanium Tetraisopropoxide Precursor

Abstract TiO 2 thin films are grown by pulsed direct liquid injection atomic layer deposition with rapid thermal heating using titanium tetraisopropoxide and water vapor as precursors. The ALD growth rate is constant in the saturation zone range 35-47 ms at the temperature deposition of 280 °C. The TiO 2 growth rate of 0.018 nm/cycle was achieved in a self-limited ALD mode. SEM and AFM analysis showed the as-deposited films have a smooth surface with a low roughness. XPS analysis exhibited the stoichiometry of TiO 2 in the homogenous depth composition.

Influence of sol counter-ions on the visible light induced photocatalytic behaviour of TiO2 nanoparticles

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles are attracting increasing interest because of their superior photocatalytic and antibacterial properties. Here, aqueous titanium oxy-hydroxide sols were made, using a green synthesis method, from the controlled hydrolysis/peptisation of titanium isopropoxide. Three different mineral acids were used to peptise the sol (HNO3, HBr and HCl), and provide counter-ions. Cytochalasin B selectively releases ovalbumin mRNA precursors but not the mature ovalbumin mRNA from hen oviduct nuclear matrix

Hen oviduct nuclear matrix-bound mature ovalbumin mRNA is released from the matrix in the presence of ATP, while the ovalbumin mRNA precursors remain bound to this structure. Detachment of the mature mRNA from the matrix by ATP as well as ATP-dependent efflux of mRNA from isolated nuclei were found to be inhibited by cytochalasin B. On the other hand, in the absence of ATP, cytochalasin B exclusively caused the release (and nucleocytoplasmic efflux) of the ovalbumin messenger precursors, but not of the mature mRNA. Temporal patterns in immune responses to a range of microbial insults (Tenebrio molitor).

However, the temporal nature of these responses with respect to different immune insults is less well understood. This study investigated the magnitude and temporal variation in phenoloxidase and antimicrobial activity in the mealworm beetle Tenebrio molitor in response to a number of different synthetic and real immune elicitors. AbstractMany amphiphilic antimicrobial peptides permeabilize bacterial membranes via successive steps of binding, re-alignment and/or oligomerization. Here, we have systematically compared the lipid interactions of two structurally unrelated peptides: the cyclic β-pleated gramicidin S (GS), and the α-helical PGLa. 19F NMR was used to screen their molecular alignment in various model membranes over a wide range of temperatures. Cholesterol-Like Effects of Selective Cyclooxygenase Inhibitors and Fibrates on Cellular Membranes and Amyloid-β Production

Strong evidence suggests a mechanistic link between cholesterol metabolism and the formation of amyloid-beta peptides, the principal constituents of senile plaques found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease. Here, we show that several fibrates and diaryl heterocycle cyclooxygenase inhibitors, among them the commonly used drugs fenofibrate and celecoxib, exhibit effects similar to those of cholesterol on cellular membranes and amyloid precursor protein (APP) processing.
