The aim of the current study was to determine Finnish and Dutch three-year-old preschool children’s physical activity (PA) levels and how levels vary across gender, location, time of day and social contexts in both countries. A modified version of the Observational System for Recording Physical Activity in Children-Preschool (OSRAC-P) was used to measure children’s PA levels and contextual variables (e.g. group composition, prompts) of children attending childcare centres in Finland and the Netherlands. Vispārējās veselības stāvokļa un nepārtikas paradumu saikne ar kariesa intensitāti pirmsskolas vecuma bērniem Latvijā

Mērķis. Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt iespējamo saikni starp pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu vispārējās veselības traucējumiem, mutes veselību ietekmējošiem kaitīgiem paradumiem un kariesa intensitāti. Metodes. Šo šķērsgriezuma pētījumu, kas notika 2017. un 2018.gadā, apstiprināja Latvijas Universitātes Ētikas Komisija. Kopējais dalībnieku skaits bija 158, vecumā starp 2 un 7 gadiem. Rakstiska piekrišana tika saņemta no vecākiem. Bērna vecāki aizpildīja aptaujas. Klīnisko apskati veica trīs zobārsti, kuriem asistēja grupa ar studentiem. W artykule podjęto rozważania teoretyczne, ale także analizy empiryczne – na podstawie badań przeprowadzonych wśród dzieci 5–6-letnich i uczniów edukacji wczesno-szkolnej – nad zagadnieniem trudnej sztuki obrazowania ruchu w rysunku. Analiza 1471 dziecięcych rysunków dowiodła, że badane dzieci na ogół tworzą rysunki, które charakteryzuje brak dynamiki (51,3%), czasem jednak podejmują próby zobrazowania ruchu – mniej lub bardziej udane. Najczęściej dzieci czynią to poprzez zgięcie kończyny, inne ułożenie ciała, czasem stosują zróżnicowanie wielkości sylwetek i sugerują ruch za pomocą strzałek, kresek lub smug podkreślających dynamizm sytuacji, rzadziej zaznaczają ujęcie profilowe i zgięcie k…
Mathematics Competence Level: The Contribution of Non-symbolic and Spatial Magnitude Comparison Skills.

Magnitude comparison skills have been related to mathematics competence, although results in this area vary. The current study aimed to describe the performance of 75 children (aged 4-5 years) in two comparison tasks; and examine the strength of the relationship between each of the two tasks and mathematics competence level (MCL). Participants were assessed with the Early Numeracy Test which provides a global MCL score. Magnitude comparison skills were assessed with two tasks: a non-symbolic number comparison task and a spatial comparison task. W artykule podjęto problematykę zaniedbania emocjonalnego i jego daleko idących skutków w grupie dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym (3–6 r.ż.). Zaprezentowano przegląd piśmiennictwa uwzględniającego podstawową terminologię i wskazującego na bazowe problemy w funkcjonowaniu dzieci dotkniętych zaniedbaniem emocjonalnym. Opisano główne aspekty radzenia sobie z emocjami i interakcjami społecznymi przez dzieci zaniedbane. Chemosensory reactivity and food neophobia in preschool children: impact of smell, but not of taste

Context and objective: Recent studies suggested that sensory sensitivity could be linked to food neophobia, described as the reluctance to eat, or the avoidance of, new foods. The objective of the present study was twofold. Firstly, this study aimed at assessing the links between smell reactivity and taste reactivity in children. Secondly, this study assessed the links between children’s smell/taste reactivity and food neophobia.
