A Decade of GRB Follow-Up by BOOTES in Spain (2003–2013)

This article covers ten years of GRB follow-ups by the Spanish BOOTES stations: 71 follow-ups providing 23 detections. Follow-ups by BOOTES-1B from 2005 to 2008 were given in a previous article and are here reviewed and updated, and additional detection data points are included as the former article merely stated their existence. The all-sky cameras CASSANDRA have not yet detected any GRB optical afterglows, but limits are reported where available.
Application of neural networks in diagnostics of chemical compounds based on their infrared spectra

Abstract The paper presents possibilities of using the so-called „finger-print“ identification method and artificial neural network (ANN) for diagnosis of chemical compounds. The construction of a tool specifically developed for this purpose and the ANN, as well as the required conditions for its proper functioning were described. The identification of chemical compounds was tested in two different ways for proving correctness of the assumptions. Realization of time-resolved two-vacuum-ultraviolet-photon ionization

International audience; Ultrafast dynamics of excited molecules is studied through time-resolved two-vacuum-ultraviolet (vuv)- photon ionization using a nonlinear volume autocorrelator unit. The two-vuv-photon process is induced by the intense fifth harmonic radiation of a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser. In a proof-of-principle experiment, ultrafast dynamics of excited ethylene and oxygen molecules are investigated. Molecular decay times are deduced by comparing the experimental data with the results of a numerical model that accounts for the spatial and temporal characteristics of the harmonic field. New insights on the Carburangeli Cave speleogenesis: a flank margin cave in Northern Sicily (Italy)

Flank margin caves form in coastal regions by mixing dissolution. Their development is controlled by the position of the freshsalt water mixing boundary, which in turn, is related to sea-level position. They are characterized by a typical cave pattern and cave-wall morphologies and represent good indicators of past sea levels. Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli tarkastella kuudesluokkalaisten kielikylpyoppilaiden ruotsin kieliopin taitoja Manfred Pienemannin prosessoitavuusteorian valossa. Tärkein tutkimuskysymys oli, mille teorian viidestä tasosta oppilaat sijoittuvat. Tutkimuksen materiaalina oli 12 19 oppilaan kirjoittamaa kirjoitelmaa, eli osa kirjoitelmista oli kirjoitettu ryhmässä. Tutkimus oli kvalitatiivinen ja menetelmänä käytettiin teorialähtöistä sisällönanalyysiä. Tulokset osoittivat, että oppilaat sijoittuivat prosessoitavuusteorian neljännelle ja viidennelle tasolle.
