Telemedicine for the acute management of stroke in Burgundy, France: an evaluation of effectiveness and safety

2016

Background In the context of the development of telemedicine in France to address low thrombolysis rates and limited stroke infrastructures, a star-shaped telestroke network was implemented in Burgundy (1.6 million inhabitants). We evaluated the safety and effectiveness of this network for thrombolysis in acute ischemic stroke patients. Methods One hundred and thirty-two consecutive patients who received intravenous thrombolysis during a telemedicine procedure (2012–2014) and 222 consecutive patients who were treated at the stroke center of Dijon University Hospital, France (2011–2012) were included. Main outcomes were the modified Rankin scale (mRS) score and case fatality at 3 months. Com…

Couples' Experience of the Decision-Making Process in Breast Reconstruction After Breast Cancer: A Lexical Analysis of Their Discourse

2020

Background One in 3 women with breast cancer will have a mastectomy and face the decision of whether to have breast reconstruction (BR). This decision is shared by the women and their physician, as well as discussed with her partner. Objective This study aimed to understand the decision-making process of BR through a lexical analysis of the women and their partners' discourse. A secondary aim was to identify the differences between the couples when the woman had, or did not have, BR. Methods We conducted semistructured interviews with 9 women, and their partners, who underwent a mastectomy after a first episode of breast cancer. A lexical analysis using IRaMuTeQ software was carried out. Re…

The role of overweight in the association between the Mediterranean diet and the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus: a mediation analysis among 21 585 …

2020

Abstract Background There is growing evidence that the Mediterranean (Medi) diet may lower the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Whether this association is due to the Medi diet by itself or is mediated by a diet-associated lower rate of overweight is uncertain. Our aim was to disentangle these relationships among UK adults. Methods Based on 21 585 participants from the UK Biobank cohort, the adherence to the Medi diet (high fruits, vegetables, legumes, cereals, fish, olive oil; low meat, dairy products; and intermediate alcohol intakes) was assessed (range 0–18). Data on diabetes were self-reported, and overweight was defined as a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 25 kg/m². A mediation analys…

Benefits of Direct Colposcopic Vision for Optimal LLETZ Procedure: A Prospective Multicenter Study.

2015

International audience; Objective The aim of the study was to assess whether direct colposcopic ă vision (DCV) of the cervix during large loop excision of the ă transformation zone (LLETZ) is associated with a decrease in the volume ă and dimensions of specimens or affects margin status at histology. ă Materials and Methods A prospective multicenter observational study of ă 216 women who underwent LLETZ for grades 2 and 3 cervical ă intraepithelial neoplasia was conducted. The volume and dimensions ă (circumference, length, and thickness) of the surgical specimens were ă measured before fixation. Data were compared according to the use of ă colposcopy during LLETZ. The following 3 groups we…

Physical Activity, Incidence, and Progression of Age-Related Macular Degeneration: A Multicohort Study.

2022

Contains fulltext : 249581.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) PURPOSE: To investigate the impact of physical activity (PA) on the incidence or progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in the general population. DESIGN: Meta-analysis of longitudinal cohort studies. METHODS: We included 14,630 adults with no or early AMD at baseline from 7 population-based studies and examined associations of PA with AMD incidence and progression using multistate models (MSM) per study and subsequent random effects meta-analysis. Age effects were assessed using meta-regression. The main outcome measure was the hazard ratio (HR) for incident early or progression to late AMD. RESULTS: At ba…

Macular pigment change during eye ageing : analysis from population based study, Montrachet study

2018

Given the limits of the literature on the environmental nutritional impact in ocular aging witch is partially due to the lack of data in general population notably in French elderly, first, we were interested in the relationships of diet, plasma xanthophylls and macular pigment optical density as well as its spatial distribution and second of plasma fatty acids and dry eye disease signs in the 1153 Montrachet study participants.Firstly, we reported the high consumption of squash, the high plasma lutein and zeaxanthin levels and also the high plasma lutein level, the high macular pigment optical density level in nonsmokers subjects. In addition, the macular pigment values we provided in the …

The Green Deal and the CAP: policy implications to adapt farming practices and to preserve the EU's natural resources

2020

The June 2018 CAP proposals are only marginally consistent with the ambitions of the Green Deal. This is also the case of the regulation revisions being adopted by either the Council or the European Parliament in October 2020. Making EU agriculture consistent with the Green Deal but would require a whole food chain policy that encompasses more stringent instruments on the supply side and extensive changes in eating patterns.
