Lipids of the Plant Plasma Membrane
2010
The plasma membrane (PM) is arguably the most diverse membrane of the plant cell. Furthermore, the protein and lipid composition of the PM varies with cell type, developmental stage, and environment. Physical properties of lipids and associate proteins allow the formation of a barrier that is selectively permeable to macromolecules and solutes. As the plasma membrane delineates the interface between the cell and the environment, it is the primary part of signal recognition and transduction into intracellular responses for nutritional uptake/distribution, environmental responses, and developmental signaling. Many essential PM functions are carried out by proteinaceous components. However, PM…
Regulatory (suppressor) T cells in peripheral allograft tolerance and graft-versus-host reaction.
2004
Among the mechanisms capable of inducing peripheral tolerance, regulatory (suppressor) T cells (Treg) probably play a key role in the control of both reactivity to self-antigens and alloimmune response. Augmentation or manipulation of Treg could improve organ allograft survival or control graft-versus-host disease, thus resulting in operational tolerance. The role of this immunomanipulation as one method of inducing tolerance has yet to be clearly defined.

DIFFERENT ROLE OF HUMAN HLA-DR AND -DQ MOLECULES IN XENOGENEIC TRANSPLANTATION USING TRANSGENIC MICE1
1999
Background. The role of T lymphocytes in graft rejection in xenotransplantation is still unclear. The ability of the human HLA class II molecules DR and DQ to function as xenoantigens was investigated in a murine model of skin grafting, using HLA-DR1 and -DQ6-transgenic mice. Methods, Skin from HLA-DR1- or -DQ6-transgenic mice was transplanted in control littermates. Spleen cells from donors or recipients were tested in mixed lymphocyte reaction and cytotoxic assay. Results. Skin from HLA-DR1-transgenic mice was rejected and spleen cells from rejecting mice were able to proliferate to donor cells, although no rejection was observed when the skin of HLA-DQ6-transgenic mice was engrafted in c…
P0623ACUTE RENAL FAILURE IN HAPOLIDENTICAL HEMATOPOIETIC CELL TRANSPLANTATION. TWO GRAFT VS HOST DISEASE (GVHD) PROFILAXIS PROTOCOL COMPARISON
2020
Abstract Background and Aims Haplo-hematopoietic cell transplantation (Haplo-HCT) assures a valid donor in short notice in over 95% of the patients with high risk haematological neoplasia. High doses of post-transplant cyclophosphamide, in combination with other inmunosupressive drugs like calcineurin inhibitors, rapamycine and micophenolate mofetil, is safe and useful in GVHD prevention. The aim of the study was to analyze and compare acute kidney injury (AKI) in the first 100 days after transplantation, the characteristics of the patients who went on haplo-HCT, and prophylaxis for GVHD with cyclosporine (n=32) (group 1) or rapamycine (group 2), in combination with other immunossupresors. …
MO945SERUM AND URINE LEUCINE RICH ALPHA-2-GLYCOPROTEIN-1 IS ASSOCIATED WITH KIDNEY TRANSPLANT INJURY AND FAILURE
2021
Abstract Background and Aims Kidney transplantation is the treatment of choice for most of the patients with end stage chronic kidney disease. To improve patient and graft survival, early diagnostics and discovery of specific biomarkers is important. Leucine rich alpha-2-glycoprotein-1 (LRG-1) is an innovative, non-invasive biomarker that is elevated in case of angiogenesis, inflammation and kidney injury. Aim was to evaluate biomarker LRG-1 level in serum and urine in kidney transplant recipients in accordance with kidney injury markers and time period after kidney transplantation. Method In the study 35 patients were enrolled. Patients had functioning kidney grafts and they were more than…

New mobility strategies for the development of tourism in Sicily
2012
Tourism and Transport is a well established and inseparable pair. An areas can increase the tourism in potentially own economy. This requires suitable accommodation and adequate transportation system. A positive synergy effects are induced to increase of the site. Transport is an important growth area for tourism and as a result. A better functioning of transport facilitates access to sites, decreases the cost of transport and increases tourist flows. In Sicily there are a wealth of artistic, archaeological and natural sites, generating a tourist flows during the year. Despite this, the network of connections and services is precarious. Residents and visitors are inaccessible to certain geo…
Enantioselective Zirconium-Catalyzed Friedel−Crafts Alkylation of Pyrrole with Trifluoromethyl Ketones
2009
The first catalytic enantioselective Friedel-Crafts alkylation of pyrrole with 2,2,2-trifluoroacetophenones to give pyrroles with a trifluoromethyl-substituted tertiary alcohol moiety bearing a quaternary stereogenic center is described. The reaction is achieved in the presence of a 3,3'-dibromo-BINOL-Zr(IV) complex to give the expected products with high yields (up to 98%) and good enantioselectivities (up to 93% ee). The absolute stereochemistry of the products has been determined by chemical correlation.
