Carbon accumulation rate in a raised bog in Latvia, NE Europe, in relation to climate warming

The carbon accumulation rate (CAR) over the last 180 years was estimated by measuring carbon concentrations in 1-cm layers in a fine-resolution dated and analysed peat sequence in Teiči Bog, Latvia, NE Europe. We used the Granger causality test to examine the temporal (lagged) relationships between the CAR and the historical climate variables. Our results showed that the average CAR was 192 g C m–2 yr–1 during the last 180 years and 169 g C m–2 yr–1 when excluding the acrotelm where decomposition and the stock of carbon are still not in the balance. [EN] The legislation on assisted reproduction contemplates the ¿post mortem¿ fecundation. Nevertheless, the document for the presentation of the assent raises some doubts in relation with the principle of party autonomy and the new technologies of the information and communication (ICTs). In the present work one thinks about these questions and one tries to contribute some solution of application in the Spanish legal system.

Augstie purvi Latvijā ir īpaša ekosistēma. Tie sākuši veidoties pirms apmēram 9000 gadu, līdz ar to purvi ietver informāciju par klimata un veģetācijas izmaiņām un cilvēka darbības atstātajām pēdām. Eiropas Savienībā augstā purva biotopi ir kļuvuši par prioritāri aizsargājamiem. Purvu aizsardzība ir nepieciešama, un tā jāturpina ne tikai Latvijā, bet arī citās Eiropas valstīs. Līdz ar to aktuāli ir purvu apsaimniekošanas pasākumi, kas veicina hidroloģiskā režīma stabilizēšanu un biotopu atjaunošanos.

Purvs ir viena no jutīgākajām dabas ekosistēmām. Projekta mērķis ir atjaunot augstā purva biotopus četru dabas liegumu – Melnā ezera purva, Aklā purva, Rožu purva, Aizkraukles purvu un mežu – degradētajās platībās un pievērst sabiedrības uzmanību Latvijas dabas vērtībām.

Purvs ir mitra dzīvotne, kurai raksturīga aktīva kūdras veidošanās. Tā ir mājvieta daudziem augiem un dzīvniekiem, kuri nespēj dzīvot citur. Neskarti augstie purvi ir rets un apdraudēts biotops Eiropā. Nosusināšana, kūdras ieguve, mežu stādīšana un zemes rekultivācija pēdējās desmitgadēs ir nelabvēlīgi ietekmējusi purvus. Meliorācijas sistēmu ietekmes dēļ Aizkraukles purvā un mežos, Aklajā, Rožu un Melnā ezera purvā purva biotopi ir izmainījušies. Projekta mērķis ir atjaunot dabisko ūdens līmeni projekta vietās – augstā purva biotopos, kurus ir ietekmējusi nosusināšana – tādējādi aizsargāt Eiropas un Latvijas nozīmes purva biotopus, augus un dzīvniekus.

AbstractThis paper focuses on the figure of the Spanish scholar Pedro Sánchez Ciruelo (ca. 1470–1548), who published a commentary on Johannes de Sacrobosco’s Sphaera in 1498. The aim of this study is to analyze the defense of astrology that Ciruelo prepared for the preface of his commentary in order to show that this praise of astrology represents a significant part of the scholar’s intellectual interests, which remained constant throughout his career. Aims: Classification of European bog vegetation (Oxycocco-Sphagnetea class); identification of diagnostic species for the class and vegetation subgroups (orders and alliances); development of an expert system for automatic classification of vegetation plots; and production of distribution maps of the Oxycocco-Sphagnetea class and its alliances.
