Tarkastelen tutkielmassani Surkeiden sattumusten sarja -nimisen lastenkirjasarjan fiktiivisen tekijähahmon, Lemony Snicketin, rooleja sarjan maailman rakentumisen näkökulmasta. Niin Snicket kuin sarjakin ovat Daniel Handler -nimisen materiaalisen tekijän tuotosta, mutta itse kirjoista tämä ei käy ilmi. Snicket ei kuitenkaan ole vain Handlerin salanimi vaan myös kirjojen kertoja ja henkilöhahmo niiden maailmassa. Sarjan annetaan ymmärtää perustuvan Snicketin tutkimustyölle: kirjat ovat fiktiivisiä tutkimusraportteja kolmen orpolapsen epäonnisesta elämästä. Moir\'e-enabled topological superconductivity

The search for artificial topological superconductivity has been limited by the stringent conditions required for its emergence. As exemplified by the recent discoveries of various correlated electronic states in twisted van der Waals materials, moir\'e patterns can act as a powerful knob to create artificial electronic structures. Here, we demonstrate that a moir\'e pattern between a van der Waals superconductor and a monolayer ferromagnet creates a periodic potential modulation that enables the realization of a topological superconducting state that would not be accessible in the absence of the moir\'e. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan suomalaisen arkikeskustelun kehuja kolmen peruskysymyksen kautta: 1) millaisia kehut ovat rakenteeltaan, 2) miten kehut otetaan vastaan ja 3) millaisissa tilanteissa kehuja esitetaan ja mita niilla tehdaan? Tutkimus on metodiltaan keskustelunanalyyttinen: kehuja analysoidaan osana aitojen keskustelujen toiminnallista kudosta. Kehu maaritellaan tutkimuksessa vastaanottajaan tavalla tai toisella kohdistuvaksi myonteiseksi arvioksi. The title compound, C27H47NO3, is a (3-hydroxypropyl)amide derivative of naturally occurring enantiopure lithocholic acid (3-hydroxy-5-cholan-24-oic acid). The molecule contains four fused rings: three six-membered rings in chair conformations and one five-membered ring in a half-chair form. The two terminal six-membered rings are cis-fused, while other rings are trans-fused. The structure contains an intramolecular O—H O hydrogen bond and a similar hydrogen-bond framework to the corresponding deoxycholic and chenodeoxycholic acid derivatives. After an initial study of the characteristics of magnetorheological fluids based on a thorough search in literature, a preliminary configuration of MR brake is proposed. It comes from the evaluation of the main factors influencing the design of an appropriate magnetic circuit, and then the performance obtained in terms of brake torque. The analytical study of the brake has allowed a first preliminary sizing.
