Composite vignettes of Swedish male and female professional handball players’ career paths

The aim of this study was to describe gender-specific career paths of Swedish professional handball players. A reanalysis of Ekengren et al. (2018) career interviews with nine male and nine female players led to creating two composite vignettes using the athletes’ own words, accounted for typical features in the male and female players’ career paths. Seven themes were identified in the analysis of the men’s transcripts and eight themes derived from the women’s transcripts. Patterning of supported gold monolayers via chemical lift-off lithography

The supported monolayer of Au that accompanies alkanethiolate molecules removed by polymer stamps during chemical lift-off lithography is a scarcely studied hybrid material. We show that these Au–alkanethiolate layers on poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) are transparent, functional, hybrid interfaces that can be patterned over nanometer, micrometer, and millimeter length scales. Unlike other ultrathin Au films and nanoparticles, lifted-off Au–alkanethiolate thin films lack a measurable optical signature. In this thesis DNA based structures were utilized to create gold nanostructures for nanosensing and nanoelectronic applications. In the past, both of these fields have been dominated by the conventional lithography methods, e.g., electron beam lithography and UV-lithography, but more recently scaling down the components by these techniques has become increasingly more complex and costly. Especially in the micro- and nanoelectronics, the increase in the component density and thus computational power would require fabrication of sub-10-nm components, which is challenging for the top-down approaches. Time-dependent quantum transport in nanosystems : a nonequilibrium Green's function approach

A time-dependent extension to the Landauer–Büttiker approach to study transient quantum transport in arbitrary junctions composed of leads and conducting devices is developed. The nonequilibrium Green’s function approach is employed for describing the charge and heat transport dynamics. The importance of the developed method is that it provides a closed formula for the time-dependent density matrix in both electronic and phononic systems. Toisen maailmansodan jälkeiset modernisaation vuosikymmenet jättivät jäljen suomalaiseen kaupunkimaisemaan, kun vanhat puutalokaupungit ympäri Suomea rakennettiin uudelleen. Nopean rakentamisen vuosina standardisoitu elementtirakentaminen korvasi kaupunkien paikalliseen rakennusperinteeseen perustuneen rakennuskannan, minkä tuloksena kaupunkikeskustat ympäri Suomen alkoivat muistuttaa toisiaan. Tutkimuksessa kartoitetaan Petäjäveden Vanhalle kirkolle annettuja merkityksiä ja selvitetään, millaiseksi kirkko koetaan. Liittyvätkö merkitykset arkkitehtuuriin, uskontoon, pyhyyteen, henkilökohtaisiin kokemuksiin tai muihin kirkkoon yhdistettyihin asioihin? Pääasiallinen aineisto muodostuu Petäjäveden Vanhan kirkon säätiön järjestämän kirjoituskilpailun teksteistä, joita on analysoitu grounded theory -menetelmällä. Tutkimuksessa kirjoitukset on jaettu sisältöjensä perusteella kolmeen luokkaan: 1) Elävä kirkko, 2) Minun kirkkoni ja 3) Jännittävä kirkko.
