Recombinant activated factor VII administration in a patient with congenital lack of factor VII undergoing laparoscopic hysterectomy: A case report

Highlights • Patients with lack of factor VIIa, suffering from abnormal uterine bleedings can be treated with laparoscopic hysterectomy. • Technique using bipolar coagulation and non-absorbable clips is safe and not time consuming. • Pre-operative loading with recombinant factor VIIa must be followed by prolonged supplementation in post-operative period. • We present suggested dosage and length of factor VIIa supplementation based on literature review and own experience.

BACKGROUND: The aim of the present work is to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of ultrasound scalpel during laparoscopic ovariectomy in the bitch. METHODS: Two groups of 10 subjects each, of different races and ages, were compared. In the first group, ovariectomy was performed laparoscopically, using harmonic scalpel to remove ovary. In the second group surgery was performed by means of classical laparotomy. RESULTS: Pre-operative time was similar in both groups. The internationalization of firms has led to boards becoming more international as well. In this study, we investigate the consequences of board internationalization. In particular, by drawing on research on language and board dynamics, we identify theory-based reasons why board internationalization could increase, or decrease, earnings management practices. Tradicionalment s'ha pensat que la traducció com a eina a l'aula de llengües estrangeres va quedar desaconsellada en el mètode directe. Així, des de llavors, molts docents han defensat la idea que la traducció és un recurs nociu per ensenyar idiomes, encara que, segons Cook (2010), no hi ha evidències que ho hagin provat científicament. Abans de continuar acceptant aquesta creença heretada del mètode directe, pensem que és necessari revaluar si la traducció va ser rebutjada per tots els seus exponents i si va ser realment possible excloure-la de les aules del moment. We are well aware that, no matter how valuable a text may be, its afterlife in other cultural and linguistic contexts is heavily dependent on the translator’s ability to meet the needs and expectations of its target audience. This is precisely what French screenwriter Jules Romains and film director Maurice Tourneur did when adapting Jonson’s Volpone [1940] for the new medium at the advent of sound films.
