Emotional and Sexual Development in Adolescence: From Puberty to the Formation of Emotional Bonds
2014
The physiological processes, which occur during adolescence and often so abruptly, can threaten the continuity of the previously constructed sense of identity. They do this by questioning the patterns and representations that had previously governed the relations of the teenager with regards to his body and his relational systems. Although puberty is not just about sexual transformations, definitions centered mainly on this aspect can be found in literature. In fact, pubertal development is the acquisition disclosure index of the adult reproductive capacity. The aim of this task is to explore the process of increasing involvement of the adolescent in an emotional and sexual relationship wit…
EXPRESSIONS OF DISCOMFORT IN ADOLESCENTS. CLINICAL REFLECTIONS RESULTING FROM AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF A GROUP OF STUDENTS
2006
Obiettivo.
Adolescent psychopathology in times of change: Introduction to the special issue
2018
The aim of this special issue is to understand better the many changes in adolescent psychopathology have taken place over the last decades. The factors associated with adjustment problems and psychopathology in adolescence today are not necessarily the same as the factors that predicted problems and psychopathology in the past. But the basic strategies for connecting negative experiences with adolescent psychopathology remain as important today as they were for understanding adolescent psychopathology decades ago. This is well exemplified in the studies included in this Special Issue. What all this studies have in common is that parenting and the family environment are assumed to play a ke…
Transition from Youth categories to Elite cycling: relationships between early career performance and UCI World Tour success
2021
BACKGROUND The present study aimed to describe the possible roles of cyclists' early career performance, on the transition process to elite cycling categories. METHODS Data from national and international databases, and results achieved during the UCI World Championships, were retrospectively analysed considering the Italian national Youth-U16, Junior-U18, and U23 categories, and international Junior-U18 and UCI World-Tour categories. RESULTS The 15% of Youth-U16, the 38.8% of Junior-U18 and the 60% of U23 athletes who ranked top-10 between 2007 and 2013, scored points in UCI World Tour competitions between 2012 and 2018. The 1.6% of Youth-U16, the 8.3% of Junior-U18 and 25% of U23 athletes…
Induction of the anti-ergotypic response.
1993
The injection of syngeneic activated T cells into rodents can induce a T cell response against activation markers of the T cells, ergotopes. The responding anti-ergotypic T cells have been shown to suppress experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). This paper reports the characteristics of the anti-ergotypic response. It was found that irradiated activated T cells were as good as untreated living activated T cells in inducing anti-ergotypic cells in vivo. Glutardialdehyde-fixed (0.3%) cells were poor stimulators in vivo and non-stimulatory in vitro. Dilution of glutardialdehyde to 0.003% before fixation preserved the stimulatory capacity in vitro. Fixation or irradiation of T cells a…
Adult Education in Art Galleries
2016
Since I began researching adult education in art galleries 20 years ago in Europe, I have noticed two conflicting trends. Contemporary art has become more extraverted and socially engaged, whilst lifelong learning, the discourse of neoliberalism that informs most policy, has become increasingly focused on providing learners with predefined competencies and pushed for ‘measurable’ results (e.g. Pedersen, 2014; Illeris, 2015).
Tulevaisuusperspektiivit Aikuiskoulutus nyt -kampanjassa
1990
The Adult Education Now campaign of 1989–1990 is aimed at the implementation of a practice of delegating powers of decision in Finnish educational planning. The idea is to inspire educators in the field to seek out alternative means of adult education. The goal is to activate the various parties to find new areas in adult education, to clarify the situation with regard to the changes taking place in the work of teachers, and to attract the attention of the public to the state of adult education and its potentials. The campaign is a progressive one – it includes a distinct endeavour to cope with the changing environment of the future. With premises such as these, the campaign represents an i…
Multicenter Phase II Study of Lurbinectedin in BRCA-Mutated and Unselected Metastatic Advanced Breast Cancer and Biomarker Assessment Substudy
2018
Purpose This multicenter phase II trial evaluated lurbinectedin (PM01183), a selective inhibitor of active transcription of protein-coding genes, in patients with metastatic breast cancer. A unicenter translational substudy assessed potential mechanisms of lurbinectedin resistance. Patients and Methods Two arms were evaluated according to germline BRCA1/2 status: BRCA1/2 mutated (arm A; n = 54) and unselected ( BRCA1/2 wild-type or unknown status; arm B; n = 35). Lurbinectedin starting dose was a 7-mg flat dose and later, 3.5 mg/m2 in arm A. The primary end point was objective response rate (ORR) per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST). The translational substudy of resist…
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia in Italy: Clinical and molecular features
2020
Abstract Background and aims Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) is a rare genetic disorder characterized by extremely elevated plasma levels of low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and high risk of premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). HoFH is caused by pathogenic variants in several genes, such as LDLR, APOB and PCSK9, responsible for autosomal dominant hypercholesterolemia (ADH), and LDLRAP1 responsible for autosomal recessive hypercholesterolemia (ARH). Aim of this study was the review of the clinical and molecular features of patients with HoFH identified in Italy from 1989 to 2019. Methods Data were collected from lipid clinics and laboratories, …
