A Time to Lead : Changes in Relational Team Leadership Processes over Time

This study analyzes how team members perceive changes in relational leadership processes over time. Interview data from three virtual teams ( N = 18) were analyzed using qualitative thematic analysis. The findings illustrate how ideals of well-functioning leadership and teamwork communication can differ both between and within teams at different times. Team members may perceive benefits of the passage of time in teamwork, including experienced closeness, adjustment, and clarification of practices, as well as challenges such as rigidity and historical baggage. This doctoral dissertation explores leadership in the dyadic relationship of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chair of the Board, and in the process leading to CEO dismissal. The study contributes to the literature on relational leadership and the human side of corporate governance and Board work by increasing understanding of the relational practices and processes of the CEO and Chair. A theoretical model is developed of the construction of the CEO-Chair relationship. Ruta chalepensis L. (Rutaceae) leaf extract was investigated for its chemical profile and antioxidant and hypoglycaemic properties. The antioxidant effects were investigated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), Chi-carotene bleaching, and metal chelating activity assays. The carbohydrate-hydrolysing enzymes inhibition assay was used to test the hypoglycaemic potential. R. chalepensis showed a high content of hesperidin and rutin with values of 591.9 and 266.7 mg/g dry extract, respectively. The extract exhibited a promising protection of lipid peroxidation (IC50 value of 16.9 mu g/mL) and inhibited both alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase enzymes in a concentration-dependent manner. The confinement of D and L dimethyl tartrate in lecithin reverse micelles dispersed in cyclohexane has been investigated by FT-IR, polarimetry, electronic and vibrational circular dichroism (ECD and VCD), 1H NMR, and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). Measurements have been performed at room temperature as a function of the solubilizate-to-surfactant molar ratio (R) at fixed lecithin concentration. The analysis of experimental data indicates that the dimethyl tartrate molecules are solubilized within reverse micelles in proximity to the surfactant head groups in the same way for the D and L forms. AbstractThe focus in this Finland-based study is on violence in close relationships—a term that partly overlaps with the more commonly used ‘domestic violence’, ‘family violence’ and ‘intimate partner violence’. We demonstrate how police officers’ conceptualisations of such violence differ from how it is defined in relevant legal documents. The data consists of the Government Bill and legal text on the subject issued as part of a legal reform enacted in 2010, and of a qualitative sample of freelist responses from 79 police officers.
