An Impulse Response Model for the 60 Ghz Channel Based on Spectral Techniques of alpha-stable Processes
2007
International audience; In order to make realistic simulations of the radio propagation mechanism in ultra-wide band channels, an appropriate model is needed. In this paper we propose a new technique to model the impulse response of the 60 Ghz channel. This new approach is based on the spectral analysis of alpha-stable processes. Our new model presents many advantages: firstly, the channel is characterized only by a one deterministic function (spectral density) in the place of four parameters. Secondly, the estimations procedure deals directly with the measured transfer functions which avoids loosing information in data pretreatment. Finally, an estimation of the spectral measure permits to…
GW170814: A Three-Detector Observation of Gravitational Waves from a Binary Black Hole Coalescence
2017
On August 14, 2017 at 10 30:43 UTC, the Advanced Virgo detector and the two Advanced LIGO detectors coherently observed a transient gravitational-wave signal produced by the coalescence of two stellar mass black holes, with a false-alarm rate of 1 in 27 000 years. The signal was observed with a three-detector network matched-filter signal-to-noise ratio of 18. The inferred masses of the initial black holes are 30.5-3.0+5.7M and 25.3-4.2+2.8M (at the 90% credible level). The luminosity distance of the source is 540-210+130 Mpc, corresponding to a redshift of z=0.11-0.04+0.03. A network of three detectors improves the sky localization of the source, reducing the area of the 90% credible regio…
Tumoral lymphocyte immune response to preoperative radiotherapy in locally advanced rectal cancer as a prognostic factor for survival: the LYMPHOREC …
2015
Présentation Poster; International audience; Background: Short-course preoperative radiotherapy (sc-preopRT) and long-course preoperative radiotherapy (lc-preopRT) followed by total mesorectal excision (TME) are worldwide standards of care in locally advanced T3–4 N0 or N1 rectal adenocarcinoma. It is now well established that the host immune system participates in the elimination of tumor cells and that significant tumor infiltration by T-cells (LT), such as CD8+, is associated with a better prognosis. In colorectal tumors, the infiltration of Treg FoxP3+ is also described as a prognostic factor associated with better survival. We aimed to investigate the impact of the immune response to p…
Co-GLAD sputtering of tungsten-based nanostructured metallic thin films
2022
A structural and electrical study of tungsten-based metal thin films prepared by co-sputtering GLAD is the subject of this thesis. For this purpose, three different systems (W-W, W-Ag and W-Mo) have been developed using two opposite metallic targets (tilt angle α = 80° with the substrate). In addition to the choice of the second metallic element, different parameters involved in the growth of these films have undergone a variation (working pressure, thickness and second target current) to understand their influence on structural and electrical behaviors of these films. All three systems present a columnar and porous structure. The morphology of these films (especially the inclination of the…
The INTEGRAL/SPI response and the Crab observations
2004
The Crab region was observed several times by INTEGRAL for calibration purposes. This paper aims at underlining the systematic interactions between (i) observations of this reference source, (ii) in-flight calibration of the instrumental response and (iii) the development and validation of the analysis tools of the SPI spectrometer. It first describes the way the response is produced and how studies of the Crab spectrum lead to improvements and corrections in the initial response. Then, we present the tools which were developed to extract spectra from the SPI observation data and finally a Crab spectrum obtained with one of these methods, to show the agreement with previous experiments. We …
Inactivation of PadR, the repressor of the phenolic acid stress response, by molecular interaction with Usp1, a universal stress protein from Lactoba…
2009
ABSTRACT The phenolic acid decarboxylase gene padA is involved in the phenolic acid stress response (PASR) in gram-positive bacteria. In Lactobacillus plantarum , the padR gene encodes the negative transcriptional regulator of padA and is cotranscribed with a downstream gene, usp1 , which encodes a putative universal stress protein (USP), Usp1, of unknown function. The usp1 gene is overexpressed during the PASR. However, the role and the mechanism of action of the USPs are unknown in gram-positive bacteria. Therefore, to gain insights into the role of USPs in the PASR; (i) a usp1 deletion mutant was constructed; (ii) the two genes padR and usp1 were coexpressed with padA under its own promo…
Alcoholic beverages, obesity, physical activity and other nutritional factors, and cancer risk: A review of the evidence
2016
International audience; Purpose: Prevention is a priority in the fight against cancers, especially nutritional prevention. To update the levels of evidence of relationships between 10 nutritional factors and cancer risk, the scientific literature published from 2006 to 2014 was reviewed by an expert group. Methods: Data from 133 meta-analyses, pooled analyses or intervention trials were examined. Nearly 150 relationships between nutritional factors and cancer at various sites were evaluated. Results: According to the evidence graded as convincing or probable, these factors were divided in two groups. Factors which increase the risk of cancer are alcoholic beverages, overweight and obesity, re…
Transition to conservation agriculture : changes in cropping practices and responses of weed communities
2020
Conservation agriculture is a farming system based on the continuous and simultaneous application of three principles: minimal soil disturbance, continuous residue cover on the soil surface and diverse crop rotations. Adoption of this form of sustainable agriculture in France since the 2000s has been hampered by a number of constraints, including the development and management of weed populations. From an agronomic point of view, the adoption of conservation agriculture and associated abandonment of tillage results in a significant loss of weed management practices for farmers. From an ecological point of view, its application can modify all the assembly processes that act on weed communiti…
Etude physiopathologique de la réponse immunitaire au cours de la thrombopénie immunologique (purpura thrombopénique immunologique)
2010
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disease responsible for a peripheral immune destruction of platelets associated with an inappropriate bone marrow production. In this work, we first review the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of ITP. We also focus on the T cell immune response, highlighting the key role of regulatory T cells (Treg) in peripheral tolerance. The implication of the spleen in the immune response and the effects of rituximab, a B cell depleting therapy, are discussed. Then, our results obtained from 40 ITP patients are reported. Despite the fact that CD4+CD25HighFoxp3+ circulating Treg levels are similar between patients and controls, a significant increase …
