Es wird uber einen 41 jahrigen Patienten berichtet, bei dem eine abdominothorakale Oesophagusresektion durchgefuhrt wurde nachdem ein Granulosazelltumor der Speiserohre in der praoperativen Diagnostik als malignes Plattenepithelcarcinom verkannt worden war. Granulosazelltumoren des Oesophagus sind sehr seltene zumeist benigne Tumoren neuroektodermalen Ursprungs. Die Diagnose ergibt sich aus dem endoskopischen Aspekt und der histologischen Untersuchung und immunohistochemischen Aufarbeitung des Biopsats. Aufgrund der histologischen Eigenart des Tumors besteht Verwechslungsgefahr mit Plattenepithelcarcinomen.

Law of the Land: Shades of Nordic Noir in an Arctic Western

Armoton maa (Law of the Land, Jussi Hiltunen, 2017) is a contemporary western set on a peripheral border region in western Lapland, Finland. Combining crime story and family drama, it is a complex case of genre hybridity. This chapter asks how Law of the Land adapts elements from Nordic noir and modifies the Lapland film, a mixture of films set in Lapland. The melancholy mood and the dark aesthetic links the film to Nordic noir, which has traveled to remote regions recently. However, Lapland can also be seen as a Finnish version of the Wild West. ABSTRACTEnvironmental themes have invaded Nordic TV crime series over the past few years. In this paper, the epistemological starting points of a Swedish series, Jordskott, are examined. The paper argues that the series criticizes the traditional humanist paradigm on which realistic crime narratives are based. It does so through the introduction of fantastic non-human beings with the help of which the boundaries of ‘nature’ and ‘human being’ are set mobile. In the series, subjectivities are rendered volatile and the humanist epistemological paradigm is questioned as a sustainable ground for defining what counts as a subject. Set in a small town in the north of Finland, the crime TV series Ivalo (Arctic Circle, Finland, 2018) exemplifies the fascination of Nordic Noir with ‘remote’ locations as scenes of transnational crime. The plot seems to forebode the corona pandemic, portraying the spread of a life-threatening ‘Yemenite virus’ developed as a biological weapon from the Balkans to Lapland. Writing as Part of the Everyday in Pentti Saarikoski’s and Mirkka Rekola’s Poetry This article examines the processes of writing as part of the everyday in Pentti Saarikoski’s kuljen missa kuljen and Mirkka Rekola’s Ilo ja epasymmetria, both published in 1965. I argue that both collections make this process visible, and both authors thus actively participate in the discussion about poetry in the 1960s through their poetry. While Saarikoski’s poetry was appreciated as communicative, democratic poetry, Rekola’s writing was considered as old-fashioned modernist poetry – a characterization associated at the time also with Finnish-Swedish poetry. Tutkimukseni käsittelee sitä, miten kuvallisuus ilmentää poliittista ideologisuutta ja maailmankuvaa Pentti Saarikosken runokokoelmassa Mitä tapahtuu todella?. Teos ilmestyi vuonna 1962 ja kuuluu Saarikosken toisen, poliittisesti osallistuvan kauden tuotantoon. Tutkimuksessa yhdistyvät sosiologinen kirjallisuudentutkimus ja lyriikan analyysi. Keskeisiä käsitteitä tutkimuksessani ovat kuvallisuus, ideologia ja ideologisuus sekä maailmankuva. Osoitan tutkimuksessa, että Saarikosken kokoelman runokuvat ilmentävät sen poliittista ideologisuutta. Comparison among superconducting models for β″-ET4[(H3O)Fe(C2O4)3]·C6H5Br single crystals by scanning tunnelling spectroscopy

Single crystals of the novel superconductor beta ''-(BEDT-TTF)(4)[(H3O)Fe(C2O4)(3)]center dot C6H5Br charge-transfer salt were studied using a scanning tunnelling microscope. The measured samples have an onset critical temperature of about 4.0 K. Features often reported on similar compounds were observed in the tunnelling spectra at 1.4 K. STS spectra are compared with several models for the superconducting density of states. Our analysis evidences inhomogeneous superconductivity and indicates that the presence of a magnetic layer into the sample plays a role in determining the superconducting spectroscopic features. Televisioformaatit ovat kulkeneet mukanani jo yli kymmenen vuoden ajan – välillä päätoimisen tutkimustyön kohteena, välillä sivujuonteena muiden töiden lomassa ja usein myös osana omaa katsomiskokemustani. Ensimmäisen kerran törmäsin formaatteihin, kun keräsin aineistoa televisiohistoriaa käsittelevää väitöstutkimustani varten. Viitteitä lisensoimattomista ohjelmakopioista tuli vastaan useissa eri lähteissä, mutta varhaisin virallisesti Suomeen hankittu ohjelmaformaatti löytyi yllättäen Ylen arkistosta. kun väitökseni jälkeen pääsin vihdoin jäljittämään Tenavatuokion historiaa, syntyi ajatus televisioformaatista kulttuurisena neuvotteluna. Lopulta tämä ajatus laajeni kolmivuotiseksi tutkimu…
