Architecture and tectono-stratigraphic evolution of the intramontane Baza Basin (Bétics, SE-Spain): Constraints from seismic imaging

The Baza basin is a large Neogene intramontane basin in the Bétic Cordillera of southern Spain that formed during the Tortonian (late Miocene). The Bétic Cordillera was produced by NW–SE oblique convergence between the Eurasian and African Plates. Three seismic reflection lines (each 18 km long; vibroseis method) were acquired across the Baza basin to reveal the architecture of the sedimentary infill and faulting during basin formation. We applied rather conventional CDP data processing followed by first arrival P-wave tomography to provide complementary structural information and establish velocity models for the post-stack migration. Determination of the Boron/Lead Ratio in Ceramic Materials Based on Electrochemical Quartz Crystal Microbalance

A method for quantitatively determining the relationship boron/lead in ceramic materials is presented. It is based on the attachment of microsamples of ceramic frits to an electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). After a reductive deposition step in the � 0.25 to � 0.85 V (vs. AgCl/Ag) potential range, well-defined stripping peaks are recorded in 0.10 M NaCl plus 0.10 M mannitol. The deposition of boron and lead from suspensions of solid materials, and its subsequent oxidative dissolution can be monitorized at the EQCM. Determination of toxic elements by cathodic-stripping-voltammetry

The DPCSV determination of arsenic, selenium and tellurium in the sub-ng/ml range is discussed. After electrolytic deposition of the elements as intermetallic compounds with copper on the electrode surface, the determination is carried out by cathodic stripping. The simultaneous determination of selenium and tellurium or of selenium and arsenic is possible. Problems which occur in the application of these methods are discussed.

Abstract Background Management of ovarian cysts in infants is controversial; it can be conservative or surgical, and the management is determined by the cyst's size and sonographic features. Methods A surgical approach using a 10-mm umbilically placed operative laparoscope was taken in 3 female infants with antenatally diagnosed large, simple ovarian cysts. The contents of the cysts were partially aspirated and the cyst walls were stripped off the remaining ovarian parenchyma. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were recorded. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, millaista perhekuvaa rippikoulun opettajanoppaiden perhetyöskentelyistä välittyi ja millaisten diskurssien kautta se rakentui. Lisäksi selvitettiin, millaiseksi nuoren toimijuus perhetyöskentelyjen diskursseissa rakentui. Tutkimusaineistona olivat perhetyöskentelyt eli perhettä käsittelevät tehtävät kuudesta rippikoulun opettajanoppaasta: Ihan sama, Quo vadis?, Elämänpuu, Löytöretki, Ohjaajan ripari sekä Sanktus. Tutkimus käsittelee Keski-Pohjanmaan amerikansiirtolaisuutta vuosina 1893−1945. Keski- Pohjanmaa oli Suomen vilkkainta siirtolaisseutua. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on ollut selvittää, millä volyymilla Keski-Pohjanmaan kunnista muutettiin. Suomen virallisen tilaston perusteella on selvitetty jokaisen kunnat vuosittaiset lähtijämäärät. Tilastojen kertoman mukaan Keski- Pohjanmaan alueelta on hahmotettu voimakkaan ja heikon siirtolaisuuden alueet. Siirtolaisten lukumäärää on verrattu mm. kuntien maantieteelliseen sijaintiin sekä asukkaiden äidinkieleen.
