Concentration of chromium and nickel in serum of patients with orthopedic implant: An analysis
2021
Introduction: Surgical corrections of fracture using fixation devices made from various alloys (stainless steel, cobalt-chromium alloys, and titanium) carry a risk of these alloys leaching into circulation, potentially causing undesired health effects. Hence, monitoring the levels of metal ions in the serum of postoperative patients with metal implants is mandated. Materials and Methods: Blood samples from seventy patients with orthopedic metal implants was collected after a minimum postoperative period of 1 year. The samples were subjected to triple acid digestion and serum levels of chromium and nickel were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Results: The concentr…
Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Determination of Chromium in Sediments
1999
Abstract An electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometric method has been developed to determine total chromium concentration in natural sediment samples. Samples were mineralized by dry ashing at 550°C and fused at 1100°C for 30 min with lithium metaborate. Dissolved samples were injected in graphite tubes, mineralized at 1100°C, and atomized at 2600°C. Standard addition calibration made unnecessary the use of chemical modifiers. The method provided a limit of detection from 23 to 45 ng liter −1 . The relative standard deviation for chromium determination was between 3 and 14%. Results obtained for a standard reference material agree well with the certified value. A series of natural samp…
Tetraiodoethynyl resorcinarene cavitands as multivalent halogen bond donors
2014
The first examples of iodoethynyl resorcinarene cavitands as rigid 3D halogen bond (XB) donor molecules are presented. These concave macrocycles form strong, RXB = 0.78–0.83, halogen bonds with dioxane oxygen, pyridine nitrogen and a bromide anion in tetraproropyl ammonium bromide resulting in deep cavity cavitand structures.
Phosphororganische Verbindungen, 68. Darstellung und Eigenschaften von Tetrakis(diphenylphosphin)‐nickel(0)
1971
Organic Phosphorus Compounds, 68. Preparation and Properties of Tetrakis(diphenylphosphine)nickel(0) The title compound, 1, was prepared by reacting of diphenylphosphine with bis(π-allyl)nickel, tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)nickel(0) (2), nickel-powder, or nickel(II) bromide. The structure of 1 was elucidated by Zerewitinoff method, i. r. and n. m. r. spectra. The alkylation of meta…
Sol-gel entrapped chromium(VI): a new selective, efficient and recyclable oxidizing system
2001
Abstract The sol-gel entrapment of chromium(VI) within a silica matrix, obtained by oxidation with ozone of the corresponding entrapped chromium(III), was found to be an efficient and recyclable oxidizing system (at least up to 16 times) for benzylic alcohols. No leaching of chromium in solution was observed, which prevented any environmental pollution.

Tailoring polymers through interplay of ligands within precatalysts: 8-(Nitro/benzhydryl-arylimino)-7,7-dimethyl-5,6-dihydroquinolylnickel halides in…
2017
A series of 8-(nitro/benzhydryl-substituted arylimino)-7,7-dimethyl-5,6-dihydroquinolines and the corresponding nickel halide complexes were synthesized and characterized. Molecular structures of representative nickel complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction, showing the dinuclear dimers with distorted square-pyramidal geometry around the nickel center. The binding energies determined by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) indicate the effective coordination between the sp2-nitrogen and nickel atoms as well as the influence of both the halogen ligands and the substituents within dihydroquinolines on the strength of the NiN bond. Ethylene polymerization with the nicke…
THE OCCURRENCE OF CHROMIUM IN RAW MATERIALS AND ITS FATE IN THE BREWING PROCESS
1987
The chromium content of raw materials, intermediate and final products in the brewing process were determined in order to evaluate the contribution of raw materials to the chromium content of beer. The contribution due to beer in the diet is considered in the light of the recommended daily intake of chromium.
Halogen bonding and host–guest chemistry between N-alkylammonium resorcinarene halides, diiodoperfluorobutane and neutral guests
2019
Single crystal X-ray structures of halogen-bonded assemblies formed between host N-hexylammonium resorcinarene bromide (1) or N-cyclohexylammonium resorcinarene chloride (2), and 1,4-diiodooctafluorobutane and accompanying small solvent guests (methanol, acetonitrile and water) are presented. The guests’ inclusion affects the geometry of the cavity of the receptors 1 and 2, while the divalent halogen bond donor 1,4-diiodooctafluorobutane determines the overall nature of the halogen bond assembly. The crystal lattice of 1 contains two structurally different dimeric assemblies A and B, formally resulting in the mixture of a capsular dimer and a dimeric pseudo-capsule. 1H and 19F NMR analyses …
Direct arylation of heteroaromatic compounds with congested, functionalised aryl bromides at low palladium/triphosphane catalyst loading.
2011
International audience; A new ferrocenyl triphosphane ligand associated to palladium was found to be an efficient catalyst for the direct coupling of highly congested, functionalised aryl bromides with a variety of heteroarenes. These coupling reactions can generally be performed by using a low-loading (0.1-0.5 mol%) of the catalyst. The present protocol tolerates important and useful functional groups, which allows for further elaboration into more sophisticated heterocyclic molecules. The straightforward arylation of heteroaromatic compounds with congested ortho-substituted aryl bromides may permit further convergent syntheses of diverse ligands, biologically active molecules and molecula…
