Synthesis and characterization of a novel high luminescent gold-2-mercapto-1-methyl-imidazole complex

Synthesis and characterization of a new gold-2-mercapto-1-methyl imidazole are reported. This new organic material shows an extraordinary fluorescence activity (superfluorescence) up to 220°C with an unusual quantum yield of 0.2. Both fluorescence and NMR spectroscopy were applied to understand the behavior of the gold-2-mercapto-1-methylimidazole complex. Results suggest that the superfluorescence activity can be attributed to the shrinking of the HOMO-LUMO band gap energy following complexation of the organic imidazole system with gold. Sorption kinetic of aroma compounds by edible bio-based films from marine-by product macromolecules: Effect of relative humidity conditions

International audience; Edible films based on gelatin and chitosan have high gas and aroma barrier properties. This study focused on their capability to sorbed/retain aroma compounds (1-hexanal, 2-hexen-1-ol, 1-hexanol, 3-hexanone and phenol) at three relative humidity level (≤2%, 53% or 84% RH). Whatever the relative humidity condition, the order of sorption is keton (3-hexanone) < aldehyde (1-hexanal) < aliphatic alcohols (2-hexen-1-ol and 1-hexanol) < phenol. Microstructure and characteristic properties of dogfish skin gelatin gels prepared by freeze/spray-drying methods

International audience; The effects of two pretreatments (microwaves or oven-drying) on the dogfish (Squalus acanthias) skin as well as two drying processes (freeze-drying or spray-drying) on the extracted gelatins were studied. Thus six types of gelatins were obtained, three of which were freeze-dried (FG) and the others were spray-dried (SG), from the untreated skin (US), microwaves-pretreated skin (MS) and oven-pretreated skin (OS). The highest yield (8.67%) was obtained for the OSFG, while the lowest one (3.06%) was measured for the OSSG. Impact of electron beam irradiation on fish gelatin film properties

International audience; The objective of this work was to display the effect of electron beam accelerator doses on properties of plasticized fish gelatin film. Electron spin resonance indicates free radical formation during irradiation, which might induce intermolecular cross-linking. Tensile strength for gelatin film significantly increases after irradiation (improved by 30% for 60 kGy). The vapour permeability is weakly affected by irradiation. Surface tension and its polar component increase significantly and are in accordance with the increase of wettability. Milk oxidoreduction potential was modified using gases during the production of a model dairy product and its effect on gel setting was studied. Acidification by glucono-delta-lactone was used to examine the physicochemistry of gelation and to avoid variations due to microorganisms sensitive to oxidoreduction potential. Four conditions of oxidoreduction potential were applied to milk: milk was gassed with air, nongassed, gassed with N(2), or gassed with N(2)H(2). International audience; Calcium and zinc pectinate gels were prepared using a method which allowed calcium or zinc to diffuse from the cross-linking solution through a dialysis membrane to form a gel with amidated low-methoxyl pectin. The gel thus obtained was then dried, and the film structure was studied using FTIR spectroscopy as a function of the cation content (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% w/v). Important consideration was given to the three functional groups (amide, carboxyl ester, and carboxylate groups) present in the pectin. Influence of low methoxyl pectin gel textures and in vitro release of rutin from calcium pectinate beads.

This study described the preparation and characterization of low methoxyl pectin (LMP) gels and beads for controlled release applications. The rheological characterization of the various formulations was proposed. Then the mechanical and morphological characterizations of beads were determined. Finally, the controlled release studies taking rutin as a model drug was evaluated. The results showed that Young's modulus values of non-amidated LMP gels decrease when adding up to 15% sorbitol. Calcium pectinate beads loaded with rutin are about 600 μm, oblong shaped with dense matrix. The research described in this thesis covers the synthesis, characterization and the study of the gelation ability of fteen pyrene based low molecular weight organogelators (LMOGs). The gelation and gel properties were investigated by rheometry, scanning electron microscopy, di erential scanning calorimetry, UV-Vis and uorescence spectroscopy. The pyrene based LMOGs form complexes with 2,4,7-trinitro uorenone (TNF) and self-assemble non-covalently through - stacking, donor-acceptor and van der Waals interactions to form thermoreversible gels, which remain stable at least for two years. Diimidazolium-based organic salts, bearing peptides or amino acids as anions have been synthesised and tested for their gelling ability in biocompatible solvents. These low molecular weight salts were successfully used as gelators in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) solution and ionic liquids.
