Nanoscale inhomogeneity of the Schottky barrier and resistivity inMoS2multilayers

Conductive atomic force microscopy (CAFM) is employed to investigate the current injection from a nanometric contact (a Pt coated tip) to the surface of ${\text{MoS}}_{2}$ thin films. The analysis of local current-voltage characteristics on a large array of tip positions provides high spatial resolution information on the lateral homogeneity of the $\mathrm{tip}/{\text{MoS}}_{2}$ Schottky barrier ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Phi}}}_{B}$ and ideality factor $n$, and on the local resistivity ${\ensuremath{\rho}}_{\text{loc}}$ of the ${\text{MoS}}_{2}$ region under the tip. Performances of the Alpha-X RF gun on the PHIL accelerator at LAL

International audience; The Alpha-X RF-gun was designed to produce an ultra-short (<100 fs rms), 100 pC and 6.3 MeV electron beam with a normalized rms transverse emittance of 1π mm mrad for a gun peak accelerating field of 100 MV/m. Such beams will be required by the Alpha-X project, which aims to study a laser-driven plasma accelerator with a short wavelength accelerating medium. It has been demonstrated on PHIL (Photo-Injector at LAL) that the coaxial RF coupling, chosen to preserve the gun field cylindrical symmetry, is perfectly understood and allows reaching the required peak accelerating field of 100 MV/m giving beam energy of 6.3 MeV. Geometric limits of cyclic groups and the shape of Schottky space

We give a local estimate of the shape of Schottky space at certain boundary points. This is done by studying the geometric limits of sequences of cyclic groups and applying the results to the generators of Schottky groups. We also obtain information on discrete, non-faithful representations close to the cusps.

Digital performance improvements of a CdTe pixel detector for high flux energy-resolved X-ray imaging

Abstract Photon counting detectors with energy resolving capabilities are desired for high flux X-ray imaging. In this work, we present the performance of a pixelated Schottky Al/p-CdTe/Pt detector (4×4) coupled to a custom-designed digital readout electronics for high flux measurements. The detector (4×4×2 mm 3 ) has an anode layout based on an array of 16 pixels with a geometric pitch of 1 mm (pixel size of 0.6 mm). Schottky mass measurements of stored and cooled neutron-deficient projectile fragments in the element range of 57≤Z≤84

Abstract A novel method for direct, high precision mass measurements of relativistic exotic nuclei has been successfully applied in the storage ring ESR at GSI. The nuclei of interest were produced by projectile fragmentation of 930 MeV / u bismuth ions, separated in-flight by the fragment separator FRS, stored and cooled in the ESR. The mass values have been deduced from the revolution frequencies of the coasting cooled ions. We have measured 104 new mass values with a precision of about 100 keV and a resolving power of 3.5×10 5 for the neutron-deficient isotopes of the elements 57≤Z≤84 . Observation of a dramatic hindrance of the nuclear decay of isomeric states for fully ionized atoms

Abstract The half-lives of isomeric states of fully ionized 144Tb, 149Dy and 151Er have been measured. These nuclides were produced via fragmentation of about 900 MeV/u 209Bi projectiles, separated in flight with the fragment separator (FRS) and stored in the cooler ring (ESR). The decay times of the cooled fragments have been measured with time-resolved Schottky spectrometry. We observed for the first time drastic increases of the half-lives of bare isomers by factors of up to 30 compared to their neutral counterparts. This is due to the exclusion of the strong internal conversion and electron-capture channels in the radioactive decay of these bare nuclei. The experimental results are in g…

Polarization phenomena in Al/p-CdTe/Pt X-ray detectors

Over the last decades, CdTe detectors are widely used for the development of room temperature X-ray and gamma ray spectrometers. Typically, high resolution CdTe detectors are fabricated with blocking contacts (indium, aluminum) ensuring low leakage currents and high electric field for optimum charge collection. As well known, time instability under bias voltage (termed as polarization) is the major drawback of CdTe diode detectors. Polarization phenomena cause a progressive degradation of the spectroscopic performance with time, due to hole trapping and detrapping from deep acceptors levels. Characterization of Al-Schottky CdTe detectors

In the last decades, great efforts are being devoted to the development of CdTe detectors for high resolution X-ray and gamma ray spectroscopy. Recently, new rectifying contacts based on aluminum (Al) are very appealing in the development of CdTe detectors with low leakage currents and anode pixellization. In this work, we report on preliminary results of electrical and spectroscopic investigations on Schottky CdTe diode detectors (4.1 × 4.1 × 0.75 and 4.1 × 4.1 × 2 mm3) with Au/Ti/Al/CdTe/Pt electrode configuration. Electrical Characterization of CdTe pixel detectors with Al Schottky anode

Abstract Pixelated Schottky Al/p-CdTe/Pt detectors are very attractive devices for high-resolution X-ray spectroscopic imaging, even though they suffer from bias-induced time instability (polarization). In this work, we present the results of the electrical characterization of a (4×4) pixelated Schottky Al/p-CdTe/Pt detector. Current–voltage ( I–V ) characteristics and current transients were investigated at different temperatures. The results show deep levels that play a dominant role in the charge transport mechanism. Scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy of Mo clusters grown on TiO2(110).

Molybdenum was deposited in two steps (3 eq. ML and 1 eq. ML) on the light blue rutile TiO2 10) (1 x 1) surface at room temperature, each Mo deposition cycle being followed by an annealing up to 950-1000 K. This procedure was found to lead to formation of separated clusters having a size in very wide range (1-20 nm). Scanning tunneling microscopy showed a dependence of the cluster morphology as a function of the size. The scanning tunneling spectra of Mo clusters was studied as a function of cluster dimensions and discussed in comparison with photoelectron spectroscopy results previously obtained for homogeneous Mo films.
