Un acquisto da farsi prudenter et sine strepitu: l’arrivo in Vaticana di manoscritti e stampati del Collegio Romano all’inizio del XX secolo

2022

Based on a series of unpublished documents found in the Vatican Library and in the Vatican Archive, this article reconstructs the purchase in 1912 of manuscripts and printed books of the Collegium Romanum by the Vatican Library, during the papacy of Pius X. The purchase negotiations, which took place between June and July 1912, involved the praepositus and the consultor of the Roman province of the Jesuits, Augusto Spinetti and Pietro Tacchi Venturi, and the prefect of the Vatican Library, the Jesuit Franz Ehrle. The volumes arrived in the Vatican Library via the Jesuit novitiate of Villa Torlonia in Castel Gandolfo, where the manuscripts and books were transferred from the Collegium Romanu…

A Group-theoretical Finiteness Theorem

2008

We start with the universal covering space $${\*M^n}$$ of a closed n-manifold and with a tree of fundamental domains which zips it $${T\longrightarrow\*M^n}$$ . Our result is that, between T and $${\* M^n}$$ , is an intermediary object, $${T\stackrel{p} {\longrightarrow} G \stackrel{F}{\longrightarrow} \*M^n}$$ , obtained by zipping, such that each fiber of p is finite and $${T\stackrel{p}{\longrightarrow}G\stackrel{F}{\longrightarrow} \*M^n}$$ admits a section.

Tally languages accepted by alternating multitape finite automata

1997

We consider k-tape 1-way alternating finite automata (k-tape lafa). We say that an alternating automaton accepts a language L\(\subseteq\)(Σ*)k with f(n)-bounded maximal (respectively, minimal) leaf-size if arbitrary (respectively, at least one) accepting tree for any (w1, w2,..., wk) ∈ L has no more than $$f\mathop {(\max }\limits_{1 \leqslant i \leqslant k} \left| {w_i } \right|)$$ leaves. The main results of the paper are the following. If k-tape lafa accepts language L over one-letter alphabet with o(log n)-bounded maximal leaf-size or o(log log n)-bounded minimal leaf-size then the language L is semilinear. Moreover, if a language L is accepted with o(log log(n))-bounded minimal (respe…

Working with Transcripts and Translated Data

2008

Transcribing talk originating from various interactional contexts into a written form is an integral part qualitative research practice. Transcripts are produced for particular analytic purposes and therefore range in detail, from broad verbatim transcripts in more content-oriented analysis to extremely refined and detailed transcriptions on interaction-oriented analysis of naturally occurring data. Learning to master transcription skills, and solving the practical, technical and theoretical considerations and decisions that go into the process of producing good quality transcripts is something that both students, teachers of qualitative methods and researchers within the field equally stru…

Physician pharmacist practice groups : consistency and feasibility in the primary healthcare system. Evaluation of an experiment in France

2022

The regulation of drug prescription by general practitioners is based on various mechanisms, but unlike other countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland), it does not include practice groups between general practitioners and community pharmacists (GPMPs). This thesis analyses the coherence and, above all, the feasibility of such practice groups in our health system. The first chapter presents a macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis of the drug prescription by French general practitioners (GPs). It emphasises that it is an important target for regulatory policy because of its contribution to health expenditure but also its health impact, with prescriptions whose relevance could be i…

Snapshot liver transcriptome in hepatocellular carcinoma

2012

Lately, advances in high throughput technologies in biomedical research have led to a dramatic increase in the accessibility of molecular insights at different levels of cancer biology such as genome, epigenome, transcriptome, proteome, and others. Among the diverse biological layers, the transcriptome has been most extensively studied especially due to the successful and broad introduction of the microarray technology. The future prospect of broad disposability of deep sequencing technology will furthermore lead to a more sensitive detection of lowly expressed transcripts and to an increase in the number of newly identified transcripts, but also to increase the discovery and characterizati…

“Out of the Can”: A Draft Genome Assembly, Liver Transcriptome and Nutrigenomics of the European Sardine, <em>Sardina p<…

2018

Clupeiformes, such as sardines and herrings, represent an important share of worldwide fisheries. Among those, the European sardine (Sardina pilchardus, Walbaum 1792) exhibits significant commercial relevance. While the last decade showed a steady and sharp decline in capture levels, recent advances in culture husbandry represent promising research avenues. Yet, the complete absence of genomic resources from sardine imposes a severe bottleneck to understand its physiological and ecological requirements. We generated 69 Gbp of paired-end reads using Illumina HiSeq X Ten and assembled a draft genome assembly with an N50 scaffold length of 25579 bp and BUSCO completeness of 82.1% (Actinopteryg…

Modeling Spatial Data Pooled over Time: Schematic Representation and Monte Carlo Evidences

2015

The spatial autocorrelation issue is now well established, and it is almost impossible to deal with spatial data without considering this reality. In addition, recent developments have been devoted to developing methods that deal with spatial autocorrelation in panel data. However, little effort has been devoted to dealing with spatial data (cross-section) pooled over time. This paper endeavours to bridge the gap between the theoretical modeling development and the application based on spatial data pooled over time. The paper presents a schematic representation of how spatial links can be expressed, depending on the nature of the variable, when combining the spatial multidirectional relatio…
