This article discusses an experiment which we are conducting in the field of Finnish as a second language. We are developing an Internet-based program that learners of Finnish can use to assess their own writing skills. The program code originally comes from the DIALANG project, which is developing a diagnostic language assessment system for 14 languages for the Internet. We selected two new writing tasks for the program, and constructed related sets of benchmark performances to enable the learners to assess their own abilities. Vuonna 2020 Suomessa käynnistettiin uudenlaisen pohjan luominen kielen oppimisen jatkumolle, kun ensimmäisen vieraan tai toisen kotimaisen kielen aloitus varhennettiin ensimmäiselle vuosiluokalle. Tutkimus on osoittanut, että opettajien ja oppilaiden käsityksillä on keskeinen rooli oppimis- ja opetuskäytänteiden muotoutumisessa ja siksi on tärkeää tutkia käsityksiä uudessa tilanteessa. Artikkeli käsittelee oppimisen kokemuksia selkomukautetun kaunokirjallisuuden parissa kotoutumiskoulutuksen lukupiirissä. Aineistona ovat lukupiirien 24 osallistujan haastattelut. Haastattelut on tehty osallistujien toisella kielellä tai lingua franca -englannilla, ja niitä lähestytään fenomenologista ajattelutapaa hyödyntäen kertomuksina oppimisen kokemuksista. This article investigates the embodied achievement of intersubjectivity by analyzing depictive gestures that are produced during the final components of the ongoing verbal TCU and extended into the following turn transition space. The depictive gestures in focus elaborate the TCUs by providing additional information on the verbal content of the turn. They may, for example, provide a visual representation of an action that is referred to in the verbal TCU, depict details that are not referred to in talk, or perform bodily enactments that model projected next actions. Finnish is one of the few existent Finno-Ugric languages, a language without articles, and with only one, genderless word for the pronouns “she” and “he”. Due to this, the problems faced by the Finnish translators of The Second Sex differed in some ways from those discussed after the publication of the new English translation. This chapter describes the genesis of the second, unabridged Finnish translation, the choices made by the translators as well as the philosophical interpretations motivating those choices. Within the context of a “projet collectif de recherche”, the publication of works directed by Richard Boudet on the hillfort of the Ermitage in Agen, two wells have been studied. The analysis of structures and artefacts (pottery, metal, wood) suggests that they were probably used to draw water and not devoted to chthonian rituals. Comparisons with other wells un South West of Gaul suggest that in most cases, they may have been used in the same way, even though, in very few cases rituals relating to the domestic field cannot be excluded.
