Pigmented tooth enamel occurs in several vertebrate clades, ranging from mammals to fish. Although an iron compound is associated with this orange to red colored pigmentation, its chemical and structural organization within the enamel is unknown. To determine the nature of the iron compound, we investigated heavily pigmented teeth of the northern short-tailed shrew Blarina brevicauda using combined characterization techniques such as scanning and transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron X-ray diffraction. In the present study, we have investigated the liver microsomal stearic acid delta9 desaturation, and the fatty acid composition of liver microsomal total lipids in 10- and 30-day-old spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs), compared to the normotensive Wistar Kyoto (WKY) control rats. So as to avoid any influence related to the diet, the composition of the milk being different in SHR and WKY strains, the pups were suckled by adoptive normotensive female Wistar. After weaning, the 30-day-old rats were fed a standard commercial diet and then killed. Abstract In the present study, we have investigated the microsomal linoleic acid desaturation steps into arachidonic acid in 10- and 30-day-old spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), as compared to their normotensive control rats, Wistar Kyoto (WKY). Suckled by adoptive Wistar normotensive female, the SHR and WKY were fed the same diet. Changes in antioxidant defense are unknown in hypertension associated with metabolic disorders induced by high-fructose feeding. New analytical results for the composition of shrinkage bubbles (09-70 vol. %) in olivine-hosted (Fo <80%) primary melt inclusions (MIs) have been incorporated into a novel geochemical model for San Cristó bal volcano, Nicaragua. The vapour, liquid, and mineral components found inside shrinkage bubbles may represent relics of early C-O-H-S fluids exsolved from a magmatichydrothermal system. The application of gibberellic acid (GA 3) to the whole loquat tree from mid-May to early June and from early August to the onset of flowering, significantly reduced the number of premature flowering shoots per current shoot and per m 3 of canopy, and so reduced the total number of panicles per m 3 of canopy. The number of vegetative shoots per m 3 of canopy was also significantly reduced by applying GA 3. The response depended on the concentration applied and produced optimal results at 50mgl -1.
