Direct Analysis of Psilocin and Muscimol in Urine Samples Using Single Drop Microextraction Technique In-Line with Capillary Electrophoresis

2020

The fully automated system of single drop microextraction coupled with capillary electrophoresis (SDME-CE) was developed for in-line preconcentration and determination of muscimol (MUS) and psilocin (PSC) from urine samples. Those two analytes are characteristic active metabolites of Amanita and Psilocybe mushrooms, evoking visual and auditory hallucinations. Study analytes were selectively extracted from the donor phase (urine samples, pH 4) into the organic phase (a drop of octanol layer), and re-extracted to the acidic acceptor (background electrolyte, BGE), consisting of 25 mM phosphate buffer (pH 3). The optimized conditions for the extraction procedure of a 200 &micro

Cytotoxic effect of silorane and methacrylate based composites on the human dental pulp stem cells and fibroblasts

2014

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the cytotoxic effect of a methacrylate-based and a silorane- based composite on the human dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) versus human dental pulp fibroblasts (DPFs). Study Design: Samples of the Filtek Z250 and P90 were polymerized and immersed in the culture medium to obtain extracts after incubation for one, seven and 14 days. Magnetic cell sorting based on the CD146 expression was performed to purify DPSCs and DPFs. After incubation of both cells with the extracts, cytotoxicity was de - termined using the MTT test. Results: For the extracts of first and seventh day, both composites showed significantly lower cytotoxicity on DPSCs than DPFs…

A revision of the Old World species of Leptopsilopa Cresson (Insecta: Diptera: Ephydridae)…

2016

Diagnoses and illustrations of three Leptopsilopa species known in the Old World: L. africana Cresson, L. mutabilis Cresson and L. pollinosa (Kertesz) are provided. Three new synonyms are proposed: L. aurata (Canzoneri and Meneghini) and L. tibialis (Canzoneri and Meneghini) = L. africana; Psilopa confeteae Canzoneri and Munari = L. pollinosa . Three other species are removed from Leptopsilopa and combined with Athyroglossa , as A. leonensis (Canzoneri and Rampini), new combination, A. mianii (Canzoneri) new combination and A. rossii (Canzoneri and Raffone), new combination.

In vitro investigation of the impact of remaining tooth structure on the tensile failure loads of overdenture copings

2019

Background The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the impact of the remaining tooth structure on the retention of overdenture cast metal copings. Material and Methods A freshly extracted intact mandibular human canine (length 25 mm) was selected and endodontically treated. An incisal reduction of 4 mm with no ferrule preparation was performed and a post space of 12 mm was created. By using polyvinyl siloxane duplication material and autopolymerizing polymethylmethacrylate resin, ten resin teeth analogs (control group) were obtained. A second set of ten resin teeth analogs (group 1) was created by preparing on the original natural tooth a 360o ferrule design of 1 mm in height and…

Prediction of flow patterns during silo discharges using a finite element approach and its preliminary experimental verification

2015

Abstract Obtaining a reliable discharge of particulate solids from a storage silo is a prerequisite to securing operational adequacy in solids handling processes. If a silo is poorly designed, an unreliable interrupted discharge often occurs. In this study, an in-house finite element (FE) program was modified to predict the particulate solids flow patterns during discharges from silos, and the effect of a double-cone insert on such flow patterns. In FE modeling, a Eulerian approach was adopted with an assumption of steady-state flow—a state that greatly facilitated investigations on the effects of double-cone inserts on the flow of particulate solids. Predictions were carried out on whether…
