Los estudiantes tienen dificultades para asociar el enunciado de un problema multiplicativo con la operación que permite resolverlo; esta investigación identifica los tipos de problemas multiplicativos que los estudiantes reconocen como de división de fracciones. Mediante el análisis histórico-epistemológico de textos de enseñanza sobre tres épocas históricas y ocho períodos diferentes, se obtiene un listado de variables de enseñanza (algoritmos, sentidos de uso de fracción y de división de fracciones, representaciones, problemas), así como los valores de dichas variables. A new numerical methodology to solve the 3D Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible fluids within complex boundaries and unstructured body-fitted tetrahedral mesh is presented and validated with three literature and one real-case tests. We apply a fractional time step procedure where a predictor and a corrector problem are sequentially solved. The predictor step is solved applying the MAST (Marching in Space and Time) procedure, which explicitly handles the non-linear terms in the momentum equations, allowing numerical stability for Courant number greater than one. A novel water-soluble BODIPY dye as red fluorescent probe for imaging hypoxic status of human cancer cells

The development of effective methods for real-time monitoring of nitroreductase (NTR) activity is of great significance for medical diagnosis and cancer research. Here, we present a novel water-soluble BODIPY-based chemodosimeter (NBB) for imaging the hypoxic status of human non-small-cell lung cancer A549 cells. We assume that ‘on–off’ response of NBB is activated by the NTRmediated reductive release of meso-phenol BODIPY dye resulting in unusual fluorescence.
Polyoxypregnanes as safe, potent, and specific ABCB1-inhibitory pro-drugs to overcome multidrug resistance in cancer chemotherapy in vitro and in vivo

Multidrug resistance (MDR) mediated by ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1 (ABCB1) is significantly hindering effective cancer chemotherapy. However, currently, no ABCB1-inhibitory drugs have been approved to treat MDR cancer clinically, mainly due to the inhibitor specificity, toxicity, and drug interactions. Here, we reported that three polyoxypregnanes (POPs) as the most abundant constituents of Marsdenia tenacissima (M. tenacissima) were novel ABCB1-modulatory pro-drugs, which underwent intestinal microbiota-mediated biotransformation in vivo to generate active metabolites. In contrast to earlier writers of fantasy, however, Pratchett writes from a decidedly atheistic point of view, an issue Daniel Scott explores in depth in this chapter.
