Correlation functions for a strongly coupled boson system and plane partitions.

A quantum phase model is introduced as a limit for very strong interactions of a strongly correlated q -boson hopping model. The exact solution of the phase model is reviewed, and solutions are also provided for two correlation functions of the model. Explicit expressions, including both amplitude and scaling exponent, are derived for these correlation functions in the low temperature limit. The amplitudes were found to be related to the number of plane partitions contained in boxes of finite size.

A set of projection images is acquired during longitudinal tomography with an image intensifier TV system. Reconstruction of tomograms in each desired plane is achieved by shifting and summing up of the digitalized projection images. Digital multilayer and conventional film tomograms mainly of the respiratory tract and skeleton have been compared in 100 patients. Image quality is comparable with both methods. Disadvantage of digital tomography is lower spatial resolution (512 x 512 matrix size); advantages include lower radiation dose, shorter study time, and facilities of digital imaging.
Strictly convex corners scatter

We prove the absence of non-scattering energies for potentials in the plane having a corner of angle smaller than $\pi$. This extends the earlier result of Bl{\aa}sten, P\"aiv\"arinta and Sylvester who considered rectangular corners. In three dimensions, we prove a similar result for any potential with a circular conic corner whose opening angle is outside a countable subset of $(0,\pi)$.

Metal ions essential for plant growth, such as Fe, Mn, Ni, Cu or Zn, are taken up by plants from the soil solution through metal transporters at the plasma membrane, mainly of the ZIP and Nramp families. These transport systems, however, can also give entry to other metals (Al, Cd, Hg, Pb). Non-nutritive elements, as well as the essential nutrients at higher than metabolic concentrations, can cause phytotoxicity. Abstract Nanocrystalline tungsten carbide has been obtained by reduction/carburization at low temperature from precursors obtained by freeze-drying of aqueous solutions. Nanocrystalline WC powders with a adequate content of carbon were mixed with submicrometric Cobalt powder (12 wt.%), obtained by same synthesis method, and sintered in vacuum furnace. The cemented carbides fabricated from experimental powders were compared with both commercial ultrafine and nanocrystalline WC-12Co mixtures consolidated by the same route. Usability is a key element in successful software. Ensuring the technical usability of a learning solution enables users to focus on their main task, learning. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the results of heuristic usability evaluations of digital learning solutions. Heuristic evaluations were conducted on 24 digital learning solutions from one country (Finland) and two country groups (Asian countries and Spanish speaking countries) concentrating on the usability of the user interface of each evaluated solution. Bi3+doping in 1D ((CH3)3SO)PbI3: A model for defect interactions in halide perovskites

The recently described monodimensional hybrid pseudo-perovskite ((CH3)3SO)PbI3 exhibits complete Pb2+/Bi3+ miscibility in the B site. Heterovalent substitution imposes that charge-compensating defects are introduced in the lattice as well. This paper reports the energetics of point defects and the interaction between charge-compensating defects that occur upon Bi3+ doping in ((CH3)3SO)PbI3. Periodic DFT simulations were employed to analyze the formation energy of Pb2+ vacancies, (CH3)3SO+ vacancies, iodide vacancies, or the insertion of interstitial iodide ions. INTEGRAL/SPI ground calibration

Three calibration campaigns of the spectrometer SPI have been performed before launch in order to determine the instrument characteristics, such as the effective detection area, the spectral resolution and the angular resolution. Absolute determination of the effective area has been obtained from simulations and measurements. At 1 MeV, the effective area is 65 cm^2 for a point source on the optical axis, the spectral resolution ~2.3 keV. The angular resolution is better than 2.5 deg and the source separation capability about 1 deg. Some temperature dependant parameters will require permanent in-flight calibration.
The INTEGRAL IBIS/ISGRI System Point Spread Function and Source Location Accuracy

The imager on board INTEGRAL (IBIS) presently provides the most detailed sky images ever obtained at energies above 30 keV. The telescope is based on a coded aperture imaging system which allows to obtain sky images in a large field of view 29deg x 29deg with an angular resolution of 12'. The System Point Spread Function of the telescope and its detailed characteristics are here described along with the specific analysis algorithms used to derive the accurate point-like source locations. The derived location accuracy is studied using the first in-flight calibration data on strong sources for the IBIS/ISGRI system. Superresolved imaging of remote moving targets.

We present a superresolving approach that allows one to exceed the diffraction limit and recover highly resolved contours of moving targets from a sequence of low-resolution images. The presented approach is suitable for remote sensing applications. The resolution decoding algorithm that is used to recover the high-resolution features of the target can be run partially via optical means and that way can be used to reduce the required computational complexity.
