Dynamics of Metal Centers Monitored by Nuclear Inelastic Scattering
2005
Nuclear inelastic scattering of synchrotron radiation has been used now since 10 years as a tool for vibrational spectroscopy. This method has turned out especially useful in case of large molecules that contain a M\"ossbauer active metal center. Recent applications to iron-sulfur proteins, to iron(II) spin crossover complexes and to tin-DNA complexes are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the combination of nuclear inelastic scattering and density functional calculations.
Nuclear moments of indium isotopes reveal abrupt change at magic number 82
2022
In spite of the high-density and strongly correlated nature of the atomic nucleus, experimental and theoretical evidence suggests that around particular 'magic' numbers of nucleons, nuclear properties are governed by a single unpaired nucleon1,2. A microscopic understanding of the extent of this behaviour and its evolution in neutron-rich nuclei remains an open question in nuclear physics3-5. The indium isotopes are considered a textbook example of this phenomenon6, in which the constancy of their electromagnetic properties indicated that a single unpaired proton hole can provide the identity of a complex many-nucleon system6,7. Here we present precision laser spectroscopy measurements perf…
Spins and magnetic moments of 58;60;62;64Mn ground states and isomers
2015
The odd-odd 54;56;58;60;62;64Mn isotopes (Z = 25) were studied using bunched-beam collinear laser spectroscopy at ISOLDE, CERN. From the measured hyperfine spectra the spins and magnetic moments of Mn isotopes up to N = 39 were extracted. The previous tentative ground state spin assignments of 58;60;62;64Mn are now firmly determined to be I = 1 along with an I = 4 assignment for the isomeric states in 58;60;62Mn. The I = 1 magnetic moments show a decreasing trend with increasing neutron number while the I = 4 moments remain quite constant between N = 33 and N = 37. The results are compared to large-scale shell-model calculations using the GXPF1A and LNPS effective interactions. The excellen…
Selkäydinvammaisten henkilöiden toimintakyvyn itsearviointi Suomessa
2021
Selkäydinvammaisen henkilön toimintakyvyn itsearviointimittari (The Spinal Cord Independence Measure- Self Report: SCIM-SR) on kehitetty tarkastelemaan juuri selkäydinvammaisten henkilöiden toimintakykyä selkäydinvammaan liittyvissä asioissa. Mittari painottuu fyysisen toimintakyvyn ulottuvuuksiin. Kolmen a…
This note concerns the exceptional buckle-plate to the Christ cavalier of the Apocalypse discove…
Tridentate C–I⋯O−–N+ halogen bonds
2017
The X-ray structures of the first co-crystals where the three oxygen lone pairs in N-oxides are fully utilized for tridentate C–I⋯O−–N+ halogen bonding with 1,ω-diiodoperfluoroalkanes are reported, studied computationally, and compared with the corresponding silver(I) N-oxide complexes. peerReviewed
Krāsu centru spinu polarizācijas ar gaismu modelēšana dimantu kristālos
2017
2018
Šajā darbā tiek apskatīta lāzera un mikroviļņu lauku ietekme uz krāsu centriem dimanta kristālā, kuri atrodas konstantā magnētiskā laukā. Pēc iepazīšanās ar kvantu mehānikas matemātisko struktūru un galvenajām atvērto sistēmu modelēšanas metodēm, tiek veikti skaitliski aprēķini, kuri ļauj iegūt optiski detektētās magnētiskās rezonanses spektrus un krāsu centru elektronu un kodolu spinu polarizācijas raksturīgos lielumus. Iegūtie rezultāti tiek salīdzināti ar literatūrā pieejamajiem eksperimentālajiem datiem.
Cerebrospinal fluid glucose and lactate concentrations after traumatic brain injury
2021
In patients…
Pain neuroscience education and physical exercise for patients with chronic spinal pain in primary healthcare: a randomised trial protocol.
2019
AbstractBackgroundChronic musculoskeletal pain affects more than 20% of the population, and the prevalence is increasing, causing suffering, loss of quality of life, disability, and an enormous expenditure on healthcare resources. The most common location for chronic pain is the spine. Many of the treatments used are mainly passive (pharmacological and invasive) and poor outcomes. The treatments currently applied in the public health system do not comply with the recommendations of the main clinical practice guidelines, which suggest the use of educational measures and physical exercise as the first-line treatment. A protocol based on active coping strategies is described, which will be eva…
