FIDO science payload simulating the Athena Payload

2002

[1] The Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Field Integrated Development and Operations rover (FIDO) emulates and tests operational rover capabilities for advanced Mars rover missions, such as those originally planned for the Mars Surveyor 2001 Rover and currently planned for the Athena Payload on the Mars Exploration Rovers scheduled for launch in 2003. This paper describes FIDO's science instrument payload, which is fully integrated with rover hardware and software. Remote science teams visualize instrument suite data and generate FIDO commands using the Web Interface for Telescience. FIDO's instrument suite has been used in terrestrial laboratory and field tests to simulate Mars operations, to t…

Discotic Twin and Triple Molecules with Charge-Transfer Interactions in Langmuir−Blodgett Films

1996

X-ray and atomic force microscopy observations reveal features of the surface morphology of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films from discotic donor-acceptor molecules with strong core-to-core interactions caused by a charge-transfer (CT) complexation. The compounds are designed to be twin and triple molecules composed of chemically connected donor (triphenylene) and acceptor (trinitrofluorenone) fragments which display liquid crystalline structure in the bulk state. The LB films from these compounds possess edge-on orientation of molecules within monolayers with a smooth surface on a submicron scale but with substantial macroscopic imperfections. These imperfections are represented by the micron s…

Über die pharmakologische Prüfung von 2-Skatyl-alkylpyridinen

1968

2-Skatyl-alkyl-pyridines have been studied on different isolated organs. The …

l -Prolinoyl chiral picket iron porphyrins evaluated for the enantioselective epoxidation of alkenes

2003

International audience; Four atropisomers of an L-prolinoyl picket porphyrin were synthesised from tetra-o-aminophenyl porphyrin (TAPP) and were evaluated as alkene epoxidation catalysts after incorporation of iron in the porphyrin core. In the case of the aaaa atropisomer bearing the four amino groups on the same side, a bulky base was employed in order to suppress the eventual reaction on the non-functionalised side of the porphyrin. The resulting enantioselectivities were compared with either other chiral motifs or with the corresponding strapped porphyrins. The enantioselectivities obtained with picket porphyrins are as high as those for strapped porphryins, and in some cases, even highe…

Cytotoxic labdane diterpenes and bisflavonoid atropisomers from leaves of Araucaria bidwillii

2017

Abstract Chemical investigation of a methanolic extract of leaves from Araucaria bidwillii (Araucariaceae) from Egypt afforded four new labdane diterpenoidal metabolites (1–4) together with one known diterpene, 7-oxocallitrisic acid (5), two triterpenoidal metabolites, 2-O-acetyl-11-keto-boswellic acid (6) and β-sitosterol-3-O-glucopyranoside (7), phloretic acid (8), and two methylated bisflavonoids, agathisflavone-4′,7,7″-trimethyl ether (9) and cupressuflavone-4′,7,7″-trimethyl ether (10). The new metabolites 1–4 were unambiguously identified by applying extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies as well as HRESIMS. The relative and absolute configurations of 1–4 were determined using …

Aurophilicity as a cofactor in crystal engineering. Dicyanoaurate(I) anion as a building block in a novel Co(II)–Au(I) bimetallic assembly

2002

A 2D grid-shaped cyanide-bridged Co(II)–Au(I) bimetallic coordination polymer, [Co(DMF)2{Au(CN)2}2], has been prepared from the [Au(CN)2]2 building block; sheets associate pair-wise by aurophilic interactions and the compound exhibits zeolite-like properties. Relationships between the social communication questionnaire and pragmatic language, socialization skills, and behavioral problems in children with a…

2019

The Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ) is one of the most widely used screening instruments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This study examined the relationships between the reciprocal social interaction, communication, and repetitive/stereotyped factors on the Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and pragmatic, socialization, and behavioral problems in children with ASD and children with typical development (TD). Participants were seven- to 11-year-old children with ASD without intellectual disability (

[3]Rotaxanes and [3]pseudorotaxanes with a rigid two-bidentate chelate axle threaded through two coordinating rings

2009

New [3]rotaxanes and [3]pseudorotaxanes have been synthesised using the “gathering and threading” effect of copper(I). By using click chemistry as the “stoppering” reaction, a good yield of the [3]rotaxane was obtained, either as a dicopper complex or as a metal-free compound after demetallation. The axle contains a central rigid aromatic block incorporating two bidentate chelates, and the threaded macrocycles are 30-membered rings. A model dicopper(I) [3]pseudorotaxane whose axle was end-functionalised by triisopropylsilyl groups could be crystallised and studied by X-ray diffraction. A particularly attractive structure was obtained showing a “slanted” geometry for the two rings and the ax…

The size of aryl linker between two polyaza-cyclophane moieties controls the binding selectivity to ds-RNA vs ds-DNA

2013

Aryl-linked (pyridine- vs. phenanthroline-) bis-polyaza pyridinophane scorpiands PYPOD and PHENPOD strongly bind to the double stranded DNA and RNA, whereby very intriguing RNA over DNA selectivity is finely tuned by aryl-linker length and aromatic surface. Moreover, PYPOD and PHENPOD dimer formation at high compound/polynucleotide ratios is highly sensitive to the fine interplay between the steric and binding properties of compound-dimers and the DNA minor groove/RNA major groove. That is demonstrated by significantly different induced CD spectra, which allow spectroscopic differentiation between various DNA/RNA secondary structures. A significantly higher (micromolar) antiproliferative ef…

Microwave-Assisted Organocatalytic Enantioselective Intramolecular aza-Michael Reaction with α,β-Unsaturated Ketones

2011

An organocatalytic enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael reaction of carbamates bearing conjugated ketones as Michael acceptors is described. By using 9-amino-9-deoxy-epi-hydroquinine as the catalyst and pentafluoropropionic acid as a co-catalyst, a series of piperidines, pyrrolidines, and the corresponding benzo-fused derivatives (indolines, isoindolines, tetrahydroquinolines, and tetrahydroisoquinolines) can be obtained in excellent yields and enantioselectivities. In addition, the use of microwave irradiation at 60 °C improves the efficiency of the process giving rise to the final products with comparable yields and enantiomeric excesses. Some mechanistic insights are also consider…
