Cyclobutane Pyrimidine Photodimerization of DNA/RNA Nucleobases in the Triplet State

The photoinduced formation of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers in the triplet excited state of the DNA/RNA pyrimidine nucleobases pairs has been studied at the CASPT2 level of theory. A stepwise mechanism through the triplet state of the homodimer is proposed for the pairs of nucleobases cytosine, thymine, and uracil involving a singlet−triplet crossing intermediary structure of biradical character representing the most favorable triplet state conformation of the nucleobases as found in the DNA environment. Tässä tutkielmassa kartoitetaan kuvaa, joka suomalaisissa viidennen ja kuudennen luokan maantiedon oppikirjoissa annetaan ihmisistä Euroopan ulkopuolella. Tutkielma on tehty sisällönanalyysin keinoin. Selkeiden stereotyyppisten kuvien lisäksi pyritään löytämään myös piileviä, vähemmän selviä stereotypioita. Reactivity of bis(cyclohexylammonium) 4-nitrophenylphosphate with SnMe3 Cl. X-ray structure of 4-NO2 C6 H4 PO4(SnMe3)2·H2 O

The reaction of bis(cyclohexylammonium) 4-nitrophenylphosphate with Me3 SnCl (1:2) under reflux in ethanol yielded the title compound 4-NO2 C6 H4 PO4(SnMe3)2H2 O (1). The X-ray crystallographic analysis achieved on single crystals obtained by slow evaporation at room temperature revealed the formation of an unexpected supramolecular coordination network. The elementary building block can be viewed as two Me3 Sn moieties linked by a bridging 4-nitrophenylphosphate ligand. The two tin atoms are five-coordinated and describe a trans-Me3 SnO2 geometry in a trigonal bipyramidal arrangement. However, the Sn atoms are distinct, exhibiting two different environments. Il contributo racconta l'esperienza del Laboratorio di stereotomia svoltosi presso il Dipartimento di Architettura dell'Università degli Studi di Palermo nel mese di aprile del 2016. A un breve ragionamento introduttivo sulla valenza al contempo didattica e di ricerca dell'esperienza svolta, segue una puntuale spiegazione delle procedure e dell'iter seguito per la realizzazione di un modello in scala 1:2 della volta a cinque chiavi presente nella chiesa di Santa Maria della Catena, scelta come caso studio.

The research concerns the stairs so-called "alla Trapanese" in the work of the engineer and architect Francesco La Grassa (1876-1952), one of the most representative exponents of the architecture in Sicily between the two world-war.
