International audience; Drying is a common process which is used to preserve food products and technological microorganisms, but which is deleterious for the cells. The aim of this study is to differentiate the effects of drying alone from the effects of the successive and necessary rehydration. Disruptions in the apico-basal polarity complexes at the outer limiting membrane (OLM) of the retina are associated with retinal patterning defects in vertebrates. We have analyzed the binding repertoire of MPP5/Pals1, a key member of the apico-basal Crumbs polarity complex, that has functionally conserved counterparts in zebrafish (nagie oko) and Drosophila (Stardust). Abstract Sediment transport and bed deformation in alluvial rivers are space and time dependent. The knowledge of the space and time scales can be helpful for the definition of predictive procedures of an alluvial reach response to changing boundary conditions. In this work, attention is paid to scouring process occurring downstream of the rigid basement of a hydraulic structure. The analysis is focused on transient bed profiles which are determined, under steady flow conditions, by a decrease of the upstream sediment transport rate. International audience; We consider the problem of orchestrating the exe- cution of workflow applications structured as Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) on parallel computing platforms that are subject to fail-stop failures. The objective is to minimize expected overall execution time, or makespan. A solution to this problem consists of a schedule of the workflow tasks on the available processors and of a decision of which application data to checkpoint to stable storage, so as to mitigate the impact of processor failures. Optimal Buffer Resource Allocation in Wireless Caching Networks

Wireless caching systems have been exhaustively investigated in recent years. Due to limited buffer capacity, and unbalanced arrival and service rates, the backlogs may exist in the caching node and even cause buffer overflow. In this paper, we first investigate the relationship among backlogs, buffer capacity, data arrival rate and service rate, utilizing the martingale theory which is flexible in handling any arrival and service processes. International audience; The reactions of the copper(I) derivative [CuL(THF)(CH3CN)]PF6 (1), in which L is the di-imine/pyridine ligand 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-diisopropylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine, with different β-diketones (2,4-pentanedione (acacH), 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione (dbm)) yielded the new Cu(I) salt [CuL′2]PF6 (2) (L′: 2-[acetyl]-6-[1-(2,6-diisopropylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine). These reactions of β-diketones with a di-imine/pyridine ligand co-ordinated to a Cu(I) centre constitute the first example of a partial hydrolysis of such a Schiff base within the inner sphere of a Cu centre. Sea urchin embryos construct their skeleton following a precise gene-regulated time- and space-dependent programme, in concert with factors promoting cell adhesion and differentiation. The biomineral is deposited in a privileged extracellular space produced by the fused filopodia processes of the primary mesenchyme cells, the only cells producing a set of necessary matrix proteins.
