“Calcina e gesso e polvere di marmo”. Giacomo Serpotta e la plastica dello stucco tra Seicento e Settecento

Il contributo prende in rassegna alcune delle principali opere prodotte dal maggiore stuccatore del Settecento siciliano, Giacomo Serpotta. Il percorso cronologico prende le mosse dalle esperienze della tradizione con gli apparati cinqucenteschi dei Ferraro e del padre Gaspare, proseguendo con le pietre miliari in cui la tecnica di Serpotta e la sua visione compositiva si evolvono. Sono affrontati anche alcuni aspetti tecnici costitutivi e costruttivi degli apparati.

Can vegetation provide indications of ancient lake shorelines after more than one hundred years? A case study of Iskander-kul Lake, Tajikistan

Abstract Bioindication is a common approach to assess and evaluate environmental changes over both short or long periods of time. Here we attempt to highlight that vegetation can provide indications of the palaeoshoreline of Lake Iskander-kul, even after at least 150 years. It is an example of a dammed lake that was created by a huge mass rockfall as a result of a strong earthquake during the late Pleistocene. Applying the two way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN) we found that the shrubby vegetation is the particular one that can still effectively thrive along the palaeoshoreline despite the lake downlift. In 1695, the Valencian artist Vicente Guillo was engaged in painting the vault of the Sant Joan del Mercat church in Valencia, Spain. After preliminary work was carried out, his contract was cancelled. In 1697, Antonio Palomino, renowned for the publication of his technical treatise entitled El Museo Pictorio y Escala Optica, was finally selected as the painter in charge of decorating the vaulted ceiling of Sant Joan del Mercat. Festuca valesiaca Schleich. ex Gaudin subsp. valesiaca is acknowledged as one of the most characteristic grasses of the continental grasslands and steppes of Eurasia. In Italy, the species was known almost only from the continental valleys of the Alpine chain (with the exception of two small populations at the northernmost edge of the Apennines). Here, we report on the first confirmed finding of F. valesiaca subsp. valesiaca in the surroundings of the Fucino Basin, Central Apennines. In questo lavoro viene presentato il restauro della statua in stucco rappresentante l’allegoria della Penitenza di scuola Serpottesca. L’opera si trova nella chiesa di Santa Ninfa dei Crociferi a Palermo e fiancheggia l’altare della cappella della Madonna della Salute insieme all’allegoria della Giustizia. L’opera non è autografa, nulli sono gli atti che ne documentano con certezza l’identità, ma è inequivocabile la sua appartenenza alla scuola dei Serpotta, la più importante bottega di maestri stuccatori del barocco siciliano, il cui massimo esponente è stato Giacomo. Analysis of the influence of processor hidden registers on the accuracy of fault injection techniques

Modern processors tend to increase the number of registers, being part of them not accessible by the instruction set. Traditionally, the effect of faults in these hidden registers has not been considered during system validation using fault injection. In this paper, a study of the importance of faults in hidden registers is performed. Firstly, we have analysed the sensitivity of hidden registers to faults in combinational logic. Simple Circuit Models for Studying Global Earthing Systems

The paper proposes three simple circuit models for the simulation of the behaviour of a global earthing system during different fault events. The models allow one the evaluation of the maximum earth potential rise at every possible fault location and for every possible fault event. The three considered fault events are: single-line-to-earth fault inside a MV/LV substation, double-earth-fault in a MV line, single-line-to-earth fault inside a HV/MV station.
