Illusory self-motion (vection) can be generated by visual stimulation. The purpose of the present study was to compare behavioral vection measures including intensity ratings, duration, and onset time across different visual display types. Participants were exposed to a pattern of alternating black-and-white horizontal or vertical bars that moved either in vertical or horizontal direction, respectively. The aim of this study is to show how people suffering from severe obesity mightexperience stigmatization. We interviewed 6 persons recruited from aNorwegian rehabilitation center, specialized in lifestyle intervention in severeobesity. We found that the participants suffering from severe obese experiencedstigmatization and thus felt that they a) did not fit into the materiel world and b)experienced a lack of respect from health care professionals. The results arediscussed according to how contemporary symbols are embedded in oursurroundings and in our bodies. The Effect of 16-Minute Thermal Stress and 2-Minute Cold Water Immersion on the Physiological Parameters of Young Sedentary Men

This study aimed to determine the effect of 16 minutes of thermal stress followed by 2 minutes of cold water immersion on the physiological parameters of fifty-five sedentary men (mean age 20.15±1.30 years), who were exposed to 16 minutes of sauna (temperature: 90-91℃; relative humidity: 14-16%) followed by 2 minutes of cold water immersion (12℃). The participants' somatic characteristics were determined before entering the sauna, and their body mass and blood pressure were measured before and after sauna treatment. W artykule opisana została jedna z bardziej popularnych obecnie diet, określana mianem prozdrowotnej, tak zwana czysta dieta. Polega ona na eliminacji dostarczania organizmowi między innymi żywności przetworzonej, którą uznaje się za nieczystą, a tym samym szkodliwą i niebezpieczną dla zdrowia człowieka. Obszarem badań objęto blogi i strony internetowe poświęcone temu zagadnieniu, a także wpisy w mediach społecznościowych. W tekście wskazuje się na kulturowe konteksty czystej diety, powody jej popularności, jej powiązanie ze stylem życia i aksjologizowaniem pokarmów oraz na konsekwencje, do jakich stosowanie czystej diety może doprowadzić.

In 1995-1996, the MacArthur Midlife Research Network carried out a national survey of 7,108 Americans aged 25 to 74 (MIDLIFE IN THE UNITED STATES (MIDUS), 1995-1996 [ICPSR 2760]). The purpose of the study was to investigate the role of behavioral, psychological, and social factors in understanding age-related differences in physical and mental health. Tässä tutkielmassa selvitetään sesonkiyrittäjyyden ominaispiirteitä sekä verrataan sesonkiyrittäjyyttä yrittämisen muotona muihin yrittäjyyden muotoihin. Tutkimuksen aihe valikoitui tutkijoiden yhteisten mielenkiinnon kohteiden ja omakohtaisen yrittäjyyskokemuksien perusteella. Tutkijat kokivat, ettei sesonkiyrittäjyyttä oltu määritelty tarpeeksi riittävästi aiemmassa yrittäjyystutkimuksessa.
