Propagation of Artemisia Arborescens L. by stem-cutting: Adventitious root formation under different conditions
2012
Artemisia arborescens L. has gained a strong importance worldwide due to its many industrial uses and it has been recently considered as ornamental plant. A major constraint to its widespread cultivation is represented, by far, by the scarce availability of high-quality plant material for field establishment; hence, development of a fast and effective methods for its vegetative propagation is needed. An experiment was conducted to assess the effects of different harvest periods, NAA, and rooting substrates on rooting of stem cuttings of A. arborescens. Semi hardwood cuttings were collected from wild plants in February, April, and November. Half of the material was treated with 0.4% NAA and …
Minimum detection limits and applications of proton and helium induced X-ray emission using transition-edge sensor array
2017
Abstract We have determined minimum detection limits, MDLs, for elements 14 ⩽ Z ⩽ 86 using a transition-edge sensor array, TES array, and as a comparison using an Amptek X-123SDD silicon drift detector, SDD. This was done using a 3 MeV proton beam and a 5.1 MeV helium beam. MDLs were determined for a thin film sample on top of C substrate, and for a bulk sample containing mostly Al. Due to the higher peak-to-background ratio, lower detection limits were obtainable using the TES array for most of the elements. However, for elements 30 ⩽ Z ⩽ 45 the performance of the TES array was not as good as the SDD performance. This is due to the limitations of the TES used at energies >10 keV. The great…
Substrat jako fundament konwencjonalizacji wtórnej sielanki staropolskiej
2022
Obserwowane zmiany w obrębie konwencji zostały opracowane w odniesieniu do koncepcji substratu gatunko…
The Myristoylated Alanine-Rich C-Kinase Substrate (MARCKS) is Sequentially Phosphorylated by Conventional, Novel and Atypical Isotypes of Protein Kin…
1995
The myristoylated alanine-rich C-kinase substrate (MARCKS) is the major protein kinase C (PKC) substrate in many cell types including fibroblasts and brain cells. Here we describe the phosphorylation of MARCKS and the site specificity for different PKC isotypes. Conventional (c)PKC beta 1, novel (n)PKC delta and nPKC epsilon efficiently phosphorylated the MARCKS protein in vitro. The Km values were extremely low, reflecting a high affinity between kinases and substrate. The apparent affinity of nPKC delta (Km = 0.06 microM) was higher than that of nPKC epsilon and cPKC beta 1 (Km = 0.32 microM). The rate of substrate phosphorylation was inversely correlated with affinity and decreased in th…
Influence of oxide substrates on monolayer graphene doping process by thermal treatments in oxygen
2019
Abstract The structural and the electronic properties of monolayer graphene made by chemical vapor deposition and transferred on various oxide substrates ( SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , and HfO 2 ) are investigated by Raman Spectroscopy and Atomic Force Microscopy in order to highlight the influence of the substrate on the features of p-doping obtained by O 2 thermal treatments. By varing the treatment temperature up to 400 °C, the distribution of the reaction sites of the substrates is evaluated. Their total concentration and the consequent highest doping available is determined and it is shown that this latter is linked to the water affinity of the substrate. Finally, by varing the exposure time to …
Truncated recombinant light harvesting complex II proteins are substrates for a protein kinase associated with photosystem II core complexes
1998
AbstractPrevious studies directed towards understanding phosphorylation of the chlorophyll a/b binding proteins comprising light harvesting complex II (LHC II) have concentrated on a single phosphorylation site located close to the N-terminus of the mature proteins. Here we show that a series of recombinant pea Lhcb1 proteins, each missing an N-terminal segment including this site, are nevertheless phosphorylated by a protein kinase associated with a photosystem II core complex preparation. An Lhcb1 protein missing the first 58 amino acid residues is not, however, phosphorylated. The results demonstrate that the LHC II proteins are phosphorylated at one or more sites, the implications of wh…
Fluorination of some highly functionalized cycloalkanes: chemoselectivity and substrate dependence.
2017
A study exploring the chemical behavior of some dihydroxylated β-amino ester stereo- and regioisomers, derived from unsaturated cyclic β-amino acids is described. The nucleophilic fluorinations involving hydroxy–fluorine exchange of some highly functionalized alicyclic diol derivatives have been carried out in view of selective fluorination, investigating substrate dependence, neighboring group assistance and chemodifferentiation.
Nanoporous kaolin – cellulose nanofibril composites for printed electronics
2017
Cellulose nano- and microfibrils (CNF/CMF) grades vary significantly based on the raw materials and process treatments used. In this study four different CNF/CMF grades were combined with kaolin clay pigment particles to form nanoporous composites. The attained composite properties like porosity, surface smoothness, mechanical properties and density properties depended strongly on the raw materials used. In general, higher kaolin content (~80 wt%) led to controllable shrinkage during drying, which resulted in improved dimensional stability of composites, compared to a lower kaolin content (~50 wt%). On the other hand, the use of a plasticizer and a high amount of CNF/CMF was essential to pr…
