5-(1H-Indol-2-yl)-4-phenyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione 1a and 4-(4-chlorophenyl)-5-(1H-indol-2-yl)-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione 1b were galactosylated in the presence of NaHCO3 in ethanol to produce S-galactosides 3,4, whereas, in the presence of K2CO3 in acetone they produced a mixture of S- and N-galactosides 3-6 with a higher yield of S-galactosides over the respective N-galactosides. Reductive debromination of the tribromoamidosilane 2 gave the tetracyclic silaheterocycle 3 through a unique reaction cascade involving unprecedented two-fold intramolecular cycloaddition by transient silylenes. Halloysite Nanotubes Coated by Chitosan for the Controlled Release of Khellin

In this work, we have developed a novel strategy to prepare hybrid nanostructures with controlled release properties towards khellin by exploiting the electrostatic interactions between chitosan and halloysite nanotubes (HNT). Firstly, khellin was loaded into the HNT lumen by the vacuum-assisted procedure. The drug confinement within the halloysite cavity has been proved by water contact angle experiments on the HNT/khellin tablets. Therefore, the loaded nanotubes were coated with chitosan as a consequence of the attractions between the cationic biopolymer and the halloysite outer surface, which is negatively charged in a wide pH range. Tribological properties of thin films made by atomic layer deposition sliding against silicon

Interfacial phenomena, such as adhesion, friction, and wear, can dominate the performance and reliability of microelectromechanical (MEMS) devices. Here, thin films made by atomic layer deposition (ALD) were tested for their tribological properties. Tribological tests were carried out with silicon counterpart sliding against ALD thin films in order to simulate the contacts occurring in the MEMS devices. International audience; The temperature and emissivity separation (TES) algorithm is used to retrieve the land surface emissivity (LSE) and land surface temperature (LST) values from multispectral thermal infrared sensors. In this paper, we analyze the performance of this methodology over urban areas, which are characterized by a large number of different surface materials, a variability in the lowest layer of the atmospheric profiles, and a 3-D structure.
