Metallogel formation in aqueous DMSO by perfluoroalkyl decorated terpyridine ligands.
2016
Terpyridine based ligands 1 and 2, decorated with a C8F17 perfluorinated tag, are able to form stable thermoreversible gels in the presence of several d-block metal chloride salts. The gel systems obtained have been characterized by NMR, X-ray diffraction, electron microscopies and Tgel experiments in order to gain insights into the observed different behaviour of the two similar ligands, also in terms of the effect of additional common anionic species. peerReviewed
Metal(II) Terpyridine Complex: Ni(Terpy) 2(F6P)2
2010
Imidazolate bridged Cu(II)-Cu(II) and Cu(II)-Zn(II) complexes of a terpyridinophane azamacrocycle: a solution and solid state study.
2007
The dinuclear Cu2+ and Zn2+ as well as the mixed Cu2+-Zn2+ complexes of a 5,5''-pentaazaterpyridinophane ligand (L) are able to incorporate imidazolate (Im-) as a bridging ligand. The crystal structure of [Cu(2)L(Im)(Br)(H2O)](CF(3)SO(3))(2).3H2O (1) shows one copper coordinated by the three pyridine nitrogens of the terpyridine unit, one nitrogen of the imidazolate bridge (Im-) and one bromide anion occupying the axial position of a distorted square pyramid. The second copper atom is coordinated by the remaining imidazolate nitrogen, the three secondary nitrogens at the centre of the polyamine bridge and one water molecule that occupies the axial position. Magnetic measurements have been p…
Effects of sequence, connectivity, and counter ions in new amide-linked Ru(tpy)2-Re(bpy) chromophores on redox chemistry and photophysics.
2013
New cationic metallo ligands L1-L3 based on bis(terpyridine) ruthenium(II) complexes decorated with differently substituted 2,2'-bipyridines attached via amide groups (5-NHCO-bpy, 4-CONH-bpy, 5-CONH-bpy) were prepared. Coordination of Re(I)Cl(CO)(3) fragments to the bpy unit gives the corresponding bimetallic Ru~Re complexes 1-3. Hydrogen bonds of the bridging amide groups to [PF(6)](-) counterions or to water molecules are observed both in the solid state and in solution. The impact of the amide orientation, the connecting site, and the coordination of counterions on redox and photophysical properties is explored. Both the metallo ligands L1-L3 and the bimetallic complexes 1-3 are emissive…
Solid-Phase Synthesis of Peptide Libraries Combining α-Amino Acids with Inorganic and Organic Chromophores
2009
The synthesis of two series of peptidic chains composed of bis(terpyridine)ruthenium(II) acceptor units and organic chromophores (coumarin, naphthalene, anthracene, fluorene) by stepwise solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) techniques is described. The first series of dyads comprises directly amide linked chromophores, while the second one possesses a glycine spacer between the two chromophores. All dyads were studied by UV/Vis and NMR spectroscopy, steady-state luminescence, luminescence decay and electrochemistry, as well as by DFT calculations. The results of these studies indicate weak electronic coupling of the chromophores in the ground state. Absorption spectra of all dyads are domin…
Metallo-Polymer Chain Extension Controls the Morphology and Release Kinetics of Microparticles Composed of Terpyridine-Capped Polylactides and their …
2016
Control over morphology and porosity of supramolecular complexed polylactide (PLA) microparticles can be achieved by manipulation of the supramolecular interactions between their constituent polymeric building blocks. It is expected that such modular systems are ideal candidates to serve as degradable delivery carriers. In view of this goal, this study reports about a modular fabrication of biodegradable microparticles from terpyridine (TPy) and bisterpyridine (bisTPy) end-functionalized PLAs that can be transiently extended by chain association through differently strong complexation to three metal cations: Ni2+ , Co2+ , or Fe2+ . Further influence on the morphology of the particles can be…
Nanomolar pyrophosphate detection in water and in a self-assembled hydrogel of a simple terpyridine-Zn2+ complex.
2014
A simple terpyridine-Zn(II) complex is shown to act as an efficient and highly selective fluorescent sensor for pyrophosphate in water at physiological pH. The sensor complex showed an unprecedented fluorescence response (∼500 fold increase) and a record nanomolar sensitivity (detectable fluorescent response at 20 nM and LOD ∼ 0.8 nM). It has successfully been used to stain and record confocal fluorescence microscopy images of HeLa cells. Moreover, the complex was found to self-assemble into a hydrogel which was subsequently used to coat disposable paper strips for easy, low-cost detection of pyrophosphate.
Fast Pirouetting Motion in a Pyridine Bisamine-Containing Copper-Complexed Rotaxane
2013
The present work reports the introduction of pyridine bisamine terdentate ligands in the structure of a pirouetting copper rotaxane. Rotaxane 2[PF6] constitutes the first example of the incorporation of imine-based dynamic covalent chemistry in the synthesis of switchable copper-complexed interlocked systems. In this rotaxane, the substitution of the classical terpyridine terdentate unit by a pyridine bisamine moiety has led to a significant stabilization of the pentacoordinated site. That fact has been evidenced by EPR spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Regarding the tetracoordinated site, the congestion around the coordination sphere has been reduced to accelerate the typically slow reo…
