The Contextuality-by-Default theory is illustrated on contextuality analysis of the idealized double-slit experiment. The experiment is described by a system of contextually labeled binary random variables each of which answers the question: has the particle hit the detector, having passed through a given slit (left or right) in a given state (open or closed)? This system of random variables is a cyclic system of rank 4, formally the same as the system describing the EPR/Bell paradigm with signaling. Abstract The Name of the Rose , first novel by Umberto Eco, the Italian novelist and semiotician was published in 1980. The story happens in the Middle Ages (14th century) in an abbey, having a large and wonderful library. This historical detective story is a complicated novel full of intricate signs and symbols. In this paper, some of the themes of The Name of the Rose found in Eastern texts are discussed that indicate intertextuality and the immense amount of knowledge that Eco had of literature. Writing skills are a founding pillar of the linguistic-communicative competence of the L2 speakers, which requires a long process of learning and teaching. Based on a corpus analysis of texts written by 24 Chinese learners of Italian, this paper aims to explore whether elements attributable to construction models of the text typical of L1 affect the writing of second language and its embodiment. We analyze this corpus according to both the Contrastive (or Intercultural) Rhetoric and Second Language Acquisition point of views. The conclusion offers the result of the analysis with some reflections on teaching writing in Italian for Chinese students.
