Critical study of the quantity theory of money in the history of prices crisis

2014

The Quantity Theory of money which always links the increase in the high-Powered money supply and the general rise in prices is one of the oldest concepts in economics. After to have been the subject of many controversies at different times, it seems nowadays to hold less attention from the economists because the dispute is dissipated in a kind of religious choice to believe or not to believe to quantity theory. This theory officially influences the monetary policy of most of central banks in the world that bind conventional measures to control the money supply to curb inflation process. In many orthodox economics’ textbooks, the quantity theory is still deployed in perpetuum to explain the…

On some aspects of Borel-Moore homology in motivic homotopy : weight and Quillen’s G-theory

2016

The theme of this thesis is different aspects of Borel-Moore theory in the world of motives. Classically, over the field of complex numbers, Borel-Moore homology, also called “homology with compact support”, has some properties quite different from singular homology. In this thesis we study some generalizations and applications of this theory in triangulated categories of motives. The thesis is composed of two parts. In the first part we define Borel-Moore motivic homology in the triangulated categories of mixed motives defined by Cisinski and Déglise and study its various functorial properties, especially a functoriality similar to the refined Gysin morphism defined by Fulton. These results…

2011

The aim of that thesis is to bring a micro level contribution to the economics of innovation when using original datasets on the French case. Here the manuscript is structured in three chapters: the labour market of scientists and engineers, the incentives for innovation in the private sector and the existence of spatial spillovers in the school to work transition for graduates in science and engineering (S & I). In the first chapter of this thesis, we focus on the labour market for scientists and engineers. First, we identify the different characteristics of this labour market. We then analyze the determinants of access to R & D for young graduates in S & I. Finally, we question more broad…

Prevention of occupational injuries moral hazard and complex agency relationship

2001

This paper exploits the results of agency theory with the aim of contributing a new viewpoint and a form for analysis of the current functioning of the occupational injury and disease section of the Social Security system in its mission of providing incentives for prevention. After outlining the organization and specific features of insurance against occupational risks, an initial level of analysis highlights the presence of moral hazard in relations between insurer and company and between company and employee. A second level of analysis and resort to complex agency relationship models, multitask model and third-party model, is necessary to take into account the consequences for occupationa…

The Thunen's rent rediscovered (some reflections on the history of spatial thought)

1989

Von Thünen’s thought about land rent has often been oversimplified by modern economists: the aim of this paper is to analyse the properties of the original rent function of The Isolated State. We give a mathematical reformulation of Thünen’s reasoning and we show its richness, its curiosities and olso its limits. None of the Thünen’s rent functions is linear, and the original model is anable to assure that they are decreasing with distance to the center.

The Dark Side of Value Co-Creation: The Example of French Commercial Architecture

2018

Innovation is a network activity where different actors collaborate. An ethnographic survey of the French commercial architecture industry highlights the ambivalence of this co-production process. The results identify the sources of co-creation and co-destruction related both to the motivations of the actors and their interactions and examines their consequences. Retailers are encouraged to reposition themselves as project leaders, responsible for both assigning roles and mediating between the creative and technical functions. The development of new communication platforms to overcome interpretive biases between the diverse set of actors is also recommended.
