Inventory record inaccuracy in supply chains: the role of workers' behavior

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the effect of inventory record inaccuracy due to behavioral aspects of workers on the order and inventory variance amplification. Design/methodology/approach – The authors adopt a continuous-time analytical approach to describe the effect of inbound throughput on the inventory and order variance amplification due to the workload pressure and arousal of workers. Geosphere-biosphere interactions in bio-activity volcanic lakes: Evidences from Hule and Rìo Cuarto (Costa Rica)

Hule and R ́ıo Cuarto are maar lakes located 11 and 18 km N of Poa ́s volcano along a 27 km long fracture zone, in the Central Volcanic Range of Costa Rica. Both lakes are characterized by a stable thermic and chemical stratification and recently they were affected by fish killing events likely related to the uprising of deep anoxic waters to the surface caused by rollover phenomena. Application of Nanogen microarray technology for forensic SNP analysis

Abstract The NanoChip® Molecular Biology Workstation using electronic microarrays is an approach for rapid and high throughput analysis of SNPs. This instrument is fully automated and uses a microchip for electronic addressing of capture probes to specific array sites followed by electronic hybridisation of the single stranded PCR products, and passive hybridisation of fluorescently labelled reporter probes. Discrimination is achieved by applying thermal stringency to denature the mismatched reporters. 48 SNP assays have been designed using the ‘capture down’ assay which applies a thermal ‘touch down’ strategy to obtain the best reporter probe discrimination.

Mutated tumor alleles are expressed according to their DNA frequency

AbstractThe transcription of tumor mutations from DNA into RNA has implications for biology, epigenetics and clinical practice. It is not clear if mutations are in general transcribed and, if so, at what proportion to the wild-type allele. Here, we examined the correlation between DNA mutation allele frequency and RNA mutation allele frequency. We sequenced the exome and transcriptome of tumor cell lines with large copy number variations, identified heterozygous single nucleotide mutations and absolute DNA copy number and determined the corresponding DNA and RNA mutation allele fraction. The evolutionary history of the exclusively grapevine (Vitis spp.) infecting, grapevine leafroll-associated virus 3 (GLRaV-3) has not been studied extensively, partly due to limited available sequence data. In this study we trace the evolutionary history of GLRaV-3, focussing on isolate GH24, a newly discovered variant. So close, so different: geothermal flux shapes divergent soil microbial communities at neighbouring sites

This study is focused on the (micro)biogeochemical features of two close geothermal sites (FAV1 and FAV2), both selected at the main exhalative area of Pantelleria Island, Italy.
