Utilidad de un nuevo sistema de cronometraje para proporcionar feedback inmediato a los nadadores

El presente documento tiene dos objetivos, en primer lugar, describir un nuevo sistema de cronometraje que proporciona feedback en tiempo real y sin interferir en la ejecución del nadador y, en segundo lugar, comprobar su utilidad. El sistema consiste en una pantalla de leds, resistente al agua e instalada en el fondo de la piscina, conectada a una Unidad Central mediante una plataforma de contacto colocada en la pared donde se realiza el viraje. La pantalla de leds informa al nadador de los tiempos y número de vueltas e, incluso, puede presentar texto (consignas) escrito por el entrenador. Resumen basado en el de la publicación Resumen en inglés Se compilan y analizan las variables textuales que participan en los procesos de comprensión y aprendizaje en textos científicos. A continuación, se propone una nueva clasificación que puede aplicarse al texto instructivo. Sulfur is an important volatile component of magmas that presents different oxidation states, depending on the redox conditions and on the phase of occurrence: in silicate melts it is typically dissolved as S⁶⁺ and/or S²⁻ , in the gas phase it occurs principally as SO₂ (S⁴⁺ ) and H₂S (S²⁻). Mount Etna, in which magmatic redox conditions are poorly constrained, is used as a case study to investigate sulfur behavior in hydrous basaltic magmas during magma differentiation and degassing. Une évaluation d'une expérimentation d'activités musicales conduite en grande section de maternelle montre que les enfants qui ont bénéficié d'un enseignement musical spécifique (de 2 ou 4 h hebdomadaires) ont réalisé des performances scolaires supérieures à ceux qui étaient scolarisés dans les classes témoins. Ces résultats valent sur les acquis de fin de grande section mais aussi de façon plus convaincante sur les scores en lecture et en mathématiques en fin de cours préparatoire. Search for relativistic magnetic monopoles with the ANTARES neutrino telescope

Magnetic monopoles are predicted in various unified gauge models and could be produced at intermediate mass scales. Their detection in a neutrino telescope is facilitated by the large amount of light emitted compared to that from muons. This paper reports on a search for upgoing relativistic magnetic monopoles with the ANTARES neutrino telescope using a data set of 116 days of live time taken from December 2007 to December 2008. The one observed event is consistent with the expected atmospheric neutrino and muon background, leading to a 90% C.L. upper limit on the monopole flux between 1.3 ¿ 10¿17 and 8.9 ¿ 10¿17 cm¿2 s¿1 sr¿1 for monopoles with velocity ß ¿ 0.625.

Satellite imaging is a critical technology for monitoring and responding to natural disasters such as flooding. Despite the capabilities of modern satellites, there is still much to be desired from the perspective of first response organisations like UNICEF. Two main challenges are rapid access to data, and the ability to automatically identify flooded regions in images. We describe a prototypical flood segmentation system, identifying cloud, water and land, that could be deployed on a constellation of small satellites, performing processing on board to reduce downlink bandwidth by 2 orders of magnitude.
