Ketorolac beats ketoprofen: lower photodecarboxylation, photohemolysis and phototoxicity

Ketorolac shows reduced photohemolytic activity and low phototoxicity against human skin fibroblasts when compared to ketoprofen. The low decarboxylation quantum yield together with the efficient non-radiative deactivation of the triplet and singlet excited states of ketorolac are believed to be responsible for this behaviour.

Intramuscular tramadol versus ketorolac in patients with orthopedic and traumatologic postoperative pain: a comparative multicenter trial

This 3-day, multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled trial was undertaken to assess the postoperative analgesic effect and therapeutic safety of intramuscular tramadol compared with intramuscular ketorolac in 48 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery and having postoperative pain assessed as 75 mm or more on a 100-mm visual analogue scale. Tramadol (100 mg/2 mL ampules) was administered as needed to a maximum of 400 mg/d, and ketorolac (30 mg/1 mL ampules) was given as needed up to 90 mg/d. Nonadiabatic orientation, toroidal current, and induced magnetic field in BeO molecules.

It is predicted that oriented BeO molecules would give rise to unprecedentedly strong, unidirectional electric ring current and an associated magnetic field upon excitation by a right or left circularly polarized laser pulse into the first excited degenerate singlet state. The strong toroidal electric ring current of this state is dominated by the ring current of the 1π± orbital about the molecular axis. Our predictions are based on the analysis of the orbital composition of the states involved and are substantiated by high level electronic structure calculations and wavepacket simulations of the laser-driven orientation and excitation dynamics. Numerical Simulations of the Thermal Instability Collapse in Radiation Pressure Dominated Disks

We show that accretion disks, both in the subcritical and supercritical accretion rate regime, may exhibit significant amplitude luminosity oscillations. The luminosity time behavior has been obtained by performing a set of time‐dependent 2D SPH simulations of accretion disks with different values of α and accretion rate. An explanation of this luminosity behavior is proposed in terms of limit‐cycle instability: the disk oscillates between a radiation pressure dominated configuration (with a high luminosity value) and a gas pressure dominated one (with a low luminosity value). Frenkel-Kontorova model with anharmonic interactions

It is shown that consideration of more realistic interatomic potentials (with limited tensile strength) within the framework of the Frenkel-Kontorova model may lead to a breakdown of the soliton picture in systems with competing periodicities. Closed analytical expressions for the form of a single soliton in an anharmonic chain reveal discontinuities which indicate a disintegration of the entire system beyond some critical values of the misfit, and/or of the height of the periodic substrate potential. The length of anharmonic solitons depends essentially on both the sign and the magnitude of the misfit. The influence of misfit on the pinning-unpinning transition is also investigated.

General treatment of vortical, toroidal, and compression modes

The multipole vortical, toroidal, and compression modes are analyzed. Following the vorticity concept of Ravenhall and Wambach, the vortical operator is derived and related in a simple way to the toroidal and compression operators. The strength functions and velocity fields of the modes are analyzed in $^{208}$Pb within the random-phase-approximation using the Skyrme force SLy6. Both convection and magnetization nuclear currents are taken into account. It is shown that the isoscalar (isovector) vortical and toroidal modes are dominated by the convection (magnetization) nuclear current while the compression mode is fully convective.
