International audience; In many parts of Sicily, the Late Antiquity represents a period of strong transformation in settlement patterns and landscapes. These changes occur also on an area 20 km SE from Agrigento, on the southern coast of the island: this is the territory around the imperial villa of Cignana (2nd-3th century AD), where the University of Palermo carried out some surveys from 2007. During the surveys more than 30 new topographic units of Late Antiquity were detected: some of them are big and accurately dated, others are small and difficult to interpret. Morphological determination of the phototrophic community composition of biological soil crusts in coastal sand dunes in northern Germany

This dataset comprises the microbial community composition of biological soil crusts in north-German sand dunes. For this we obtained enrichment cultures of phototrophic microorganisms, by placing fragments of biocrusts of the same Petri dishes as used for sequencing, in Petri dishes with Bold Basal (1N BBM) agarized medium (Bischoff and Bold 1963). Cultures were grown under standard laboratory conditions: with a 12-hour alteration of light and dark phases and irradiation of 25 μmol photons m-2 s-1 at a temperature 20 ± 5 ºС. Specialization and herding behavior of trading firms in a financial market

Agent-based models of financial markets usually make assumptions about agent’s preferred stylized strategies. Empirical validations of these assumptions have not been performed so far on a full-market scale. Here we present a comprehensive study of the resulting strategies followed by the firms which are members of the Spanish Stock Exchange. We are able to show that they can be characterized by a resulting strategy and classified in three well- defined groups of firms. Firms of the first group have a change of inventory of the traded stock which is positively correlated with the synchronous stock return whereas firms of the second group show a negative correlation. This essay will examine the trend in imports of African potteries – notably amphorae and fine wares – in a rural zone of southern Sicily. We are dealing with the region of Cignana, not far from the coastline, where archaeological excavations documented a large settlement that experienced a big growth between the 5th and 6th centuries AD. During this period, a shift in the ceramic supply from the Zeugitana towards the Byzacena occurred. Nevertheless, the positive trend in imports persists until the last decades of the 6th century. La documentazione archivistica ha fornito agli studiosi una solida base di dati per ricostruire il quadro delle professionalità operanti nel cantiere di architettura in Sicilia tra la fine del medioevo e il principio dell’età moderna. Un dato certo è innanzitutto l’esistenza di una organizzazione gerarchica che prevedeva almeno tre livelli.
