Annually, millions of people die and many more sustain non-fatal injuries because of road traffic crashes. Despite multitude of countermeasures, the number of causalities and disabilities owing to traffic accidents are increasing each year causing grinding social, economic, and health problems. ResumenEste articulo presenta los resultados de una encuesta realizada con el objetivo de valorar distintos aspectos relacionados con el ruido ambiental y sus efectos sobre determinadas comunidades urbanas. Un total de 263 residentes en 5 emplazamientos diferentes de la ciudad de Valencia fueron entrevistados. A novel virus- and integrin clustering–specific pathway diverts integrin from its normal endo/exocytic traffic to a nonrecycling degradative endosomal route. Clustering of α2β1 integrin causes redistribution of the integrin to perinuclear endosomes, leading to enhanced integrin turnover promoted by calpains.

After initial binding and priming of the capsid, a sequence of events on the cell surface precedes the formation of the HPV entry platform. Abstract The community response to aircraft noise has been studied through a social survey. A total of 1800 persons living in the vicinity of six major Spanish airports have been interviewed at their homes concerning the environmental quality of the area, dissatisfaction with road traffic noise and aircraft noise, activities interfered with by noise, most disturbing aircraft types, and subjective evaluation of airport impact. This paper provides an overview of the experiences using Highly Instrumented Cars (HICs) in three research Centres across Europe; Spain, the UK and Greece. The data collection capability of each car is described and an overview presented relating to the relationship between the level of instrumentation and the research possible. A discussion then follows which considers the advantages and disadvantages of using HICs for ND research. Performance Analysis of Basic Turbo-Roundabouts in Urban Context

AbstractA turbo roundabout is a new type of canalized multilane intersection in which the physical separation between lanes helps to prevent side collisions when crossing the roundabout. This paper presents an estimation of capacity, delays and level of service of basic turbo roundabouts in undersaturation conditions, considering both vehicle flow and pedestrian traffic. The traffic performance model was developed by evaluating the capacity for each entry lane. Owing to the geometric features of the intersection, the total entry capacity is obtained by considering different values of the pedestrian impedance factor and degree of saturation at both the right-turn and left-turn lanes.
Influence of the Hourly Variation of Temperature on the Estimation of Fatigue Damage and Rutting in Flexible Pavement Design

The work presented in this paper offers a contribution to understand to what extent different discretization modes for describing a whole day can affect the estimation of in-service durability of a flexible pavement, in relation with concomitant traffic flow fluctuations. Calculation of the stress–strain state was carried out with an elastic multi-layer model, and performance laws were implemented for verification of the major distress mechanisms that are able to affect the prediction of a flexible pavement’s service life.
