Translation as a Multimodal Negotiation Process

The research presented in this paper aims to render more visible the negotiation process of beginners in German as a foreign language (level A1 and A2) at university, while they translate previously simplified texts from Italian into German using Google Translator. The study belongs in the field of classroom research focusing on the learner´s use of online resources during translating activities. The approach used for the empirical analysis is a multimodal method which is exemplified by analysis of a video sequence. The paper then discusses and evaluates the value of Google Translator as a teaching aid in foreign language classes.

In particolare, sono presi n esame i racconti della scrittrice sudanese "Coloured Lights" pubblicati a Edinburgo dalla casa editrice Polygon nel 2001 ed è sui testi di questa edizione che sono state effettuate le presenti traduzioni in lingua italiana.

This paper analyzes, in a comparative way, the conceptual metaphors (Lakoff and Johnson, 1998) used in the German text «Kassandra» of Christa Wolf and in its Italian translation. The metaphors’ translation is important for two reasons. First it shows the socio-cultural aspects that turn around the source language and the target language. On the other hand, it can investigate the role of the language and the linguistic choices. This paper will analyze the metaphors’ translations using a mixed approach, both cognitive linguistics and semiotics but it also focuses on the translation theories. The recent publication of genomic sequences for several cultivated legumes is also accelerating this process. Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) are rare genetic diseases characterized by susceptibility to infections, increased risk of autoimmunity, hypogammaglobulinemia, and lymphoproliferative syndromes. PIDs are associated to genetic alterations in about 400 known genes, among which, mutations of the LRBA gene. LRBA gene encodes a widely expressed multi-domain protein with highly conserved BEACH domain, involved in regulation of endosomal trafficking, particularly endocytosis of ligand-activated receptors. The Prince is counted among those political works which gave rise to modern political science. Linguists have shown how the writing technique, that makes The Prince a unique work, is one of the main instruments used by Machiavelli to persuade his addressee to adopt the political tactics he was recommending. Teaching audio‑visual translation at the “French Philology level 0” course: methods, contents, clues
 In the face of a sensible diminution of the number of high‑school graduates able to communicate in French well enough to follow the “classical” French Philology course, many Polish universities offer their students the possibility of studying “French Philology level 0”. One of the key skills developed by this course is translation, including basic audio‑visual translation competences. The paper shows some examples of translator training clues that have been worked out at the Opole University.
